Food, supplies being collected to help Floral City Elementary students, families Nancy Kennedy / citrus chronicle

The staff and friends of Floral City Elementary School are collecting post-storm supplies to help their students and families in need as they recover from Hurricane Irma.

They're in need of supplies like water, bread, peanut butter, canned goods, can openers and "coolers to deliver the ice would be wonderful, also grocery bags to deliver other items," said Marla Gangler. "We need your help! Many of our families are still feeling the impact of Hurricane Irma."

Floral City Elementary will be open to receive donated items from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15.
