Black Thursday Thanksgiving Shoppers

The Westfield Countryside Mall JCPenney in Clearwater, FL opened at 3:00 p.m. on Nov. 24, 2016, the afternoon of Thanksgiving. Last year, the entirety of Countryside Mall didn't open until early Friday morning. This past Thursday, the retailer decided to join in on the spending frenzy and welcomed shoppers at 6:00 p.m., just a few hours later than JCPenney.

JCPenney offered early bird shoppers coupons off of their purchase, ranging from $10 to $500.

Luggage was heavily featured in the advertisements for JCPenney's event.

As the afternoon turns into evening, shoppers flock to Starbucks to get a boost.
Consumers waiting in line to check out or moving from one department to another discard unwanted purchases in whatever place is closest.
With Christmas right around the corner, JCPenney entices shoppers with discount prices on holiday themed items.

Across the mall in Sears, a Mickey Mouse toy dressed like Santa Clause lays forgotten in the aisle before consumers venture in to continue their shopping.

Even though the mall opened to shoppers on Thanksgiving, the advertisements remind shoppers that bargains will be continuing through the next day.
