It used to be filled with an endless amount of candy, costumes, and fun. But a part of growing up is change, and many students admit that their favorite holidays are changing over time...and Halloween is no exception.

Still a fang-tastic time

"When I was younger, it was a big deal for me to find a Halloween costume and go out at night with my siblings and family, but now because Halloween is usually on a school night, I stay in and do homework," Natalie Jokerst, junior, said. "But on the weekend of Halloween I will still go to party."
Natalie Jokerst, junior, poses in her Halloween costume as an elementary schooler. Despite her age, Jokerst still enjoys the holiday. "I like Halloween because it's an excuse for my friends and I to dress up and have big parties, Jokerst said. "But other than that I don't really do any Halloween related things."

Kind of (candy) corny

"Well first off Christmas is much better. I don't like Halloween because we don't get school off, unlike Christmas," Nick Lemperis, senior, said. "Once you get older it's weird to dress up, and it's not cool to trick or treat anymore."
Nick Lemperis, current senior, trick or treats as a young kid. Lemperis admits that Halloween has never really been his favorite holiday, and as he has grown up it's become less and less important to him.

Trick or treat yourself

"I feel like Halloween was a bit better when I was younger because I would go trick or treating and dress up, but I still enjoy it now," Parker Oshgan, sophomore, said. "It gives me a reason to hang out with all my friends on a week day."
Parker Oshgan, sophomore, says that as a kid Halloween was a "more fun" experience, but he still likes celebrating it now, and using the holiday to hang out with friends.
