HEAD OF SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS OCTOBER 2020 LaVonne McIlrath, LCA Head of School

"And be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:32

Precious Moments

Our lives are made up of special moments. There was a time when I collected Precious Moments figurines. Now I just collect precious moments - and as I take time to reflect, there are many of them. I recently visited my parents in Florida to celebrate my dad's 88th birthday. As we recalled the many precious moments of our lives, it was another reminder that they pass much too quickly and that it is important to enjoy each one. Hearing my dad pray daily for the salvation of each of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, praying for our missionaries, praying for our president and our country, praying for LCA - hearing him pray is indeed a precious moment for me. What precious moments do your children see in your home? What precious moments will they relay to the next generation? I always tell our teachers to teach with a sense of urgency, making the most of each moment. We have an awesome responsibility as teachers and as parents. What special memory, what precious moment will you create today?

"One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare they mighty acts." Psalms 145:4

All Pro Dad

Calling all dads! Although we are unable to have monthly All Pro Dad events this year, you can still share quality time with your children.
  • The All Pro Dad website provides excellent resources for you. You can sign up for the Play of the Day email for tips on how a dad can be a hero to a child.
  • All Pro Dad still has monthly themes. This month the theme is Sensitivity.
  • The Member Dashboard provides many resources for each lesson that you can do at home with your child.
Our faculty and staff are working very hard under very challenging circumstances. Your prayers are needed and any words of encouragement (handwritten notes, emails, etc.) will go a long way to help our teachers keep on keeping on!

Fall - a perfect time to "Fall" in Love with Jesus!

"...I trust in You, Oh Lord; I say, You are my God. My times are in your hand..." Psalm 31:14-15

COVID-19 Guidelines

We praise the Lord for continued health and safety. To date we have not had a positive case of COVID-19 among our students or staff. We continue to report our attendance each day to the Licking County Health Department. The link below is the ODH dashboard that is updated weekly indicating the positive cases in Ohio schools.

Additional COVID-19 Reminders

Any individual waiting on results from a COVID-19 test should stay at home while the test results are pending.
If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19 the following steps take place:
  • LCA notifies the Licking County Health Department (LCHD) within 24 hours of a laboratory confirmed positive case.
  • LCHD begins contact tracing by notifying parents of students that are "close contacts" based on the seating charts that LCA provides. Close contacts will be quarantined for 14 days from the date of their exposure to the person with the confirmed case.
  • LCA sends an email notifying families regarding a confirmed positive case in their child's classroom.
  • LCA sends an email notifying all LCA families regarding a confirmed positive case within our school building.
  • Individuals testing positive must stay at home until there is clearance from the LCHD.
