Thunderstorm Formation

  1. Cumulus Stage- Warm air rises, and cloud gets bigger.
  2. Mature Stage- The cloud is at its biggest, has a large amount of water and precipitation occurs.
  3. Dissipating Stage- Precipitation cools cloud down and the storm dies.

Tornado Formation

  1. A thunderstorm begins and warm air begins to rise.
  2. Warm air begins to rotate (called a mesocyclone).
  3. Air begins to roll and creates a vortex.

Hurricane Formation

  1. A hurricane begins as a bunch of thunderstorms.
  2. Warm air from the storms move to the center rises to create clouds.
  3. The clouds from a ring (eye wall).
  4. The ring spins and grows.
  5. The storm dies once it goes far onto land.
