A Little Light A stoRy by babette lind

It's dark when Saffie does homework at night - She squints and she frowns and finally sighs. 'I could do with a little light'!
The next day Saffie goes in search of a light she's determined to beat the darkness of night.
She searches high, she searches low, she searches further than many go.
She meets a woodcutter and says: 'Hello Mr Woodcutter, are you able to help? I need a light to finish my homework at night'.
'Hello little Saffie, of course I can help - here is wood for a fire, that is all you require'
So Saffie goes home and lights a small fire but the smoke and the fumes are much too dire.
She squints and she coughs and she finally sighs 'I could really do with a better light! So the next day she goes in search of some light, she's determined to beat the darkness of night. She searches high, she searches low, she searches further than many go.
She meets Mrs Ndow and says, 'Hello Mrs Ndow are you able to help? I need a light to finish my homework at night'.
'Of course dearest Saffie, I'm happy to help, here's a torch you can light - that should help in the night'.
So Saffie goes home and holds the torch high but the light brings no joy and her arm starts to tire. She squints and she frowns and she finally sighs 'I could really do with an easier light!
The next day she goes in search of a light, she's determined to beat the darkness of night. She searches high, she searches low, she searches further than before.
She meets a shopkeeper and says 'Hello Mr Shopkeeper are you able to help? I need a good light to finish my homework at night'. 'Hello little Saffie if course I can help, here's a candle to light it will bright up the night'.
So Saffie goes home and light the candle but it causes a blaze with the slightest mishandle
She's petrified, so worried and finally says 'could really do with a safer light!'
The next day she goes in search of a light but feeling defeated by the darkness of night.
She looks up at the sun then closes are eyes 'Oh Sun! How I wish you could shine at night'.
'Oh dearest Saffie, the sun starts to say, I think I can help you, I know a way! Here's a panel for you roof and a lightbulb with a switch. The panel will soak up my sun-rays through the day and a light in the night will only be a switch away'.
So Saffie went home and set up her panel...
...Eager she waited as day turned to night...
...Then finally turned on the switch for a light!
It's bright now when Saffie does homework at night, no more squinting or frowning or coughing - she says, 'I can see in the dark, the sun is ever so smart!
