Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to set before the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.
Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.
The whole town gathered at the door, and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
How do you get rest? Sometimes, our ways of getting rest are not so restful. We think we need more sleep, but what we really need is rest for our souls.
How did Jesus get rest after his very busy day (lots of people and lots of ministry)? Go back to the stories above and see the words in bold.
Will you choose to get rest like Jesus? Do you have a specific time in your day that you spend with your Father in prayer? The Father wants his special time alone with you. He wants you speak to him and then listen to him. If Jesus needed this time, then you definitely do too! Make this a priority.
