How to write a poem

Brain storm and figure out what you want to write. Exactly what you want to do so you can have a goal.
Pick a genre. When you're writing a collection of poems it's easy to be all over the place but if you pick a genre this will allow you to be more organized and tell more of a story. Even if you don't want to tell a story a genre will help set a tone for you poems.
