Storms Left Behind Written by Stormy

A) A QR-Code book - So I'm an interaction designer, right? I design props in virtual reality and then show them to people all around the world using VR. Well what can I leave with a potential employer that would impress them but also be a functional way to show them my portfolio? A link! but not just any link!

A QR-code is that square symbol you find on all sorts of signs with the little black and white boxes in it that you can scan to go to a website or a link on your phone. They're essentially camera-scannable AR weblinks. They're used for everything from AR tracking to simple photo sharing.

So what's a QR-code book, you ask? Simple, a small book, with a page of instructions and then pages of QR codes. Each one would be an Oculus Deep Link ( a new technology currently in development) that can bring users to specific points in VR space. I can use these deep links in QR code form to make for an easy catalog of my portfolio work in VR. if an employer wants to see one of my pieces, they simply flip to the page. Each page would have a simple photograph of the work, followed by a description, including which application it's in, how much time was spent on each piece, and finally, a QR code on each page that if scanned by a camera will take you directly to that spot in VR for viewing. It's obviously my favorite among the three, and the one I've thought about most. Each app could even feature it's own QR code so if needed, the employer could download the app right from their phone!

B) QR Code business card! - So this follows a similar principle, except this time it's more compact (meaning less expensive) and uses a business card as the QR code carrier.

It would have the normal business-card info on the front, and my contact info, but then on the back it would say something like "scan here to view all my creations!" and then a QR code would take up most of the back! Then, instead of being sent to a specific deep link, it would send you to a section of my website built specifically for that QR code! It would be a virtual version of the book, with pages listed for each project and then each project's QR deep link would be on their own separate page.

C) Fire pen - My logo is a fireball, and most of my branding is fire related. It'd be insanely easy to just create a custom pen with my logo, some fire texture in the background and then a link to my website on one side. Probably the cheapest and most time-efficient one of the three.

My favorite is definitely A, but if I had to choose the most liable option, it'd probably be B. A would soak up a lot of resources to produce, and C wouldn't stand out quite enough, but B is both compact, cheap to produce, and interactive, part of my selling points.
