The Duchossois Athletic Facility Featuring a brand new wrestling room, wrestling locker room, and two competition venues: historic Doremus Gymnasium & renovated Holekamp Gym

The new Duchossois Athletic Facility took over two years to build. Check out the process of putting this incredible facility together.

THE WRESTLING ROOM

The brand new wrestling room features almost 4000 square feet of wrestling space and is located on the 5th floor, right around the corner from the office of head wrestling coach Nathan Shearer.

Two full-sized mats will be installed soon. In addition, the room features 75 feet of pull-up bars, 5 climbing ropes, and 10 wall attachments for ropes, bands, and other exercises

A 400 square foot space for exercise bikes and storing workout equipment looks into the wrestling room.

COMPETITION VENUES

Built in 1916, historic Doremus Gymnasium serves as the home of W&L wrestling dual meets. It was the host to the 1936 Collegiate Wrestling Championships, where W&L Hall of Fame heavyweight Hugo Bonino was a finalist.

HOLEKAMP GYM

Holekamp Gym will be the competition space for when the Generals host tournaments and multi-team duals. In 2016, W&L hosted the NCAA Southeast Regional in this gym and Ron Tassoni became the first W&L wrestling national qualifier in 15 years. W&L has qualified wrestlers for nationals every year since.

In 2020 the Generals wrestling team won our first Conference Championship since 1979, and the only one since joining the Centennial Conference in 1999.

THE FITNESS CENTER

THE 300 LEVEL MAIN ENTRANCE TO BOTH THE DAF AND THE FITNESS CENTER
RON TASSONI '16 is featured on the main level. Upon graduation, his 97 career wins made him the W&L wrestling wins leader. He was also a 2016 NCAA Qualifier and won the "Pres" Brown Most Valuable Athlete Award as the top male senior athlete at W&L.

The renovated and expanded fitness center serves both the athletic teams and all student, faculty, and staff. 10 new lifting stations have been added to the weight room area.
