Freshman are affected greatly because each freshman is forced to purchase a meal plan. Upper class-men are also affected for many of them have meal plans and eat the food at the cafeteria. Globally, any visitor to Clemson University is affected. Many who visit go to the cafeteria for lunch. With the food tasting below par, a bad impression is placed on Clemson.
When viewing Clemson's dining hall home page, the main advertisement is the price of the meal plan. The goal of Clemson seems to be to get people to pay for a meal. They simply want money. On the webpage, there is no advertisement of the taste of the food. They do however, advertise the nutrition of the food. The webpage shows no pictures of the food in the cafeteria.
To find information, I plan to interview both Freshman and Upper-Classmen. They will be asked if they are satisfied with the food at the cafeteria. I also will interview staff at the cafeteria and ask what they think about the food. I plan to research articles that have complained or praised the food at Clemson University. I plan to research any articles on the internet that involve the cafeteria of Clemson. I hope to find information about improvements or the lack of information on improvements. I also will research local university meal plans to see what they do similar or different compared to Clemson.
The biggest challenge when researching this topic is finding relatable research proposed by other scholars. The research topic is specifically set towards Clemson which makes the finding of past research difficult. To accommodate this difficulty, the research must not be too specific. I will not necessarily focus on the food but on the cafeteria building and anything to do with Clemson's cafeteria.
