Career, Activity, & Community Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

Individuals and staff from Career, Activity, & Community (CAC) recently gathered to celebrate this great milestone with music, games, tie-dyeing, dessert, and more! While the party had to be moved indoors due to the heat, a great time was still had by all!

Career, Activity, & Community is dedicated to empowering lives by providing career development, sustainable life-skills, and integrated community experiences that give every individual the opportunity to live their own powerful life story.

Open Door Art Studio & Gallery Hosts Opening Reception for Prism

Every color of the rainbow, along with a few unicorns, were on display at the opening reception for Prism.

The turn-out was great, and the artists of Open Door Art Studio & Gallery were proud to share their work with the community! If you missed the opening reception, don't worry! Prism will still be on display through August 10th, 2018.

Meet the CCHS Team at UCO Industries, Inc.

If you didn't know, CCHS also operates in Union County! By providing supports like transportation, nursing, creative breaks, and on-the-job encouragement, we help the employees of UCO Industries, Inc. reach their personal and financial goals.

UCO Industries, Inc. provides integrated employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities in areas such as light assembly, re-packing, and warehousing.

Meet Brian - Nurse

While Brian has worked for CCHS for just over 10 years, he has spent the last three of them in Union County. As a nurse, Brian sees to the medical needs of individuals working at UCO Industries so that they can continue to be successful at work.

"We support a few individuals with high medical and behavioral needs. I take pride in our nursing services as they really benefit those individuals and enable them to continue working in the community."

Meet Carly - Production Instructor

Carly is new to the CCHS team at UCO Industries. But that hasn't stopped her from making a big impact on the individuals she works with! As a Production Instructor, Carly works with individuals to develop and improve their skills while providing physical and personal care assistance when needed.

"My favorite part about working at CCHS is seeing the individuals grow. They teach me as much as I teach them. Working in this environment gives my life such a positive feeling!"

In addition to the on-the-job support we offer, individuals also have the opportunity to participate in artistic endeavors at Rev 36 Creative Hub during breaks in their workday. Check future editions of Moments that Matter for upcoming opportunities to purchase some of the amazing arts & crafts they produce.

Dirt Devils win in Garden Display Competition at the Ohio State Fair

Congratulations to the AccessABLE Community Garden's Dirt Devils on their fourth place ribbon in the Garden Display competition at the Ohio State Fair!

Everything on display was grown and harvested from the AccessABLE Community Garden! The Dirt Devils have worked hard to make the garden a success, and we are so proud of their accomplishments!

Experiences Are Everything

Individuals supported by CCHS are going places! With over 300 community experiences, volunteer, and career exploration opportunities available each month, individuals can build independence, meet personal goals, and achieve their dreams.

Individual Advisory Council Meeting

We are committed to providing support and services that directly reflect the needs of individuals with disabilities. To achieve this goal, the Individual Advisory Council was formed and provides representation and opportunities for dialogue and collaboration. The Individual Advisory Council is open to all individuals served by CCHS. This quarter's meeting topics will include: technology, scheduling, and transportation.

DSP Week Celebration: DSP's Make A World of Difference

For many people with an intellectual and/or developmental disability, DSP’s make it possible to live and work in their communities, providing support for things we sometimes take for granted such as communication, health needs, personal care and hygiene, employment, transportation, recreation, housekeeping and other related supports and services.

Each year during National Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week (September 9 -15, 2018) we honor their hard work and dedication with a celebration! This year's celebration titled DSP's Make A World of Difference will be full of team-building games and activities, food and drink representative of our diverse employees, and some giveaways!
