Thesis: Shakespeare was popular during his middle career, later career, and after death.
Quote 1: "William attended grammar school, where he studied Latin grammar, Latin literature, and rhetoric (the uses of lan-guage)"(Anderson)2.
Commentary: William did a lot of school to get to where he was. This must explain why he because an author and a play writer.
Quote 2: "In 1599, Burbage's theater was torn down and its timbers were used by Shakespeare and his company to build the globe theater" (Anderson)2.
Commentary: Shakespeare built his fist theater. This theater is where he wrote most of his plays.
Quote 3: "It was a large, round building, three stories high, with a large platform stage that projected from one end into a yard open to the sky" (Anderson)3.
Commentary: This is what the Globe theater looked like. In this play Henry V, called the theater a "wooden O".
Quote 4:"Shakespeare handled the complicated plot of Hamlet brilliantly" (unknown)7.
Commentary: This means Shakespeare is good at what he did. This might be because he used the greatest acting challenges.
Quote 5: "Experts believe that Shakespeare wrote the first version of Hamlet between 1599 and 1601" (unknown)1.
Commentary: There unsure when he exactly wrote it. People say that this is one of the best plays and a world great drama.
Quote 6: "Many people regard him as the world’s greatest dramatist and the finest poet England has ever produced' (Lander)1.
Commentary: This might be because he wrote at least 38 plays, two major narrative poems, sonnets, and short poems. His plays are still performed throughout the world.
Quote 7: "Today, there are theaters in many nations dedicated to staging Shakespeare’s works" (Lander)3.
Commentary:This might be because people love his work. Even after his death his "art" lives on.
Quote 8: "Good friends, for Jesus' sake forbear to dig the dust enclosed here! Blessed be the man that spares these stones and cursed be the man that moves my bones" (Anderson)8. This is what is said on Shakespeare’s grave.
Commentary: This means that if anyone moves his grave they will be cursed. They have never moved his grave, It has been in the same place since he had died.
Quote 9: “In that year, the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre opened in Stratford as the site for productions of Shakespeare's plays" (unknown)2.
Commentary: They still wanted his plays to be shown. They also built the theater in shakespeare's birthplace.
Quote 10: "Royal Shakespeare Company is an English theater organization dedicated to presenting the plays of William Shakespeare and other playwrights of his time, modern classical dramas, and new works"(unknown)1.
Commentary: like said before, his plays still live on. This company was established in 1961.
