May Crowning 2017 By: mayela hernandez

On May 8th Mercy celebrated May Crowning. Essentially it is a day honoring Mary, and two girls from each grade are chosen to represent Her, based on their faith, kindness and likeness of Mary.

Each pair of representatives led the rest of the community in a decade of the rosary. This was also the first time that we saw the seniors in their caps and gowns.

Father Eckley joined us and spoke about the importance of having an open relationship with our mother Mary

Izzy Brown was chosen by her class as May Queen. She was crowned and then continued by crowning Mary. She also gave a speech and brought the community into a prayerful mindset.

Mercy traditions continue from generation to generation. Rachel, who was last year's May queen, came to visit and see someone new take the honor of representing Mary.

The ceremony ended with the announcement of the Outstanding Seniors. Lyndee Hoge and Julia Pechar were chosen because of their involvement, academics, and impact on the school as a whole. Their pictures will hang in the hallways of Mercy High for the coming school year. .
