Finally some sunshine!

I can't believe the weather! What a difference a few weeks makes. I do hope you enjoyed half term, especially now the world is starting to open up again.

As we are now having this glorious sunshine, please can we ensure that children have suncream put on first thing and that they have a named hat and drinks bottle with them.

Parking Concerns- Persuasive Writing By Alice Year 6

At around 8:40-09:00am, the parking near our gates and around our school is unacceptable. Cars irresponsibly park to drop children off. On a daily basis there are unsupervised children who could get hurt or severely injured; you should all be willingly interested in stopping and preventing anything from happening in the future.

Our eagle-eyed teachers have noticed this behaviour and believe there should be a change. Why do cars have to park right outside the gates? To stop this and allow children to be safer, this should be a car free zone- that is what the yellow zig-zags mean.

I believe that if we can all think about careful parking then school will be safer and everyone will feel less stressed. Parents might feel more able to let their children walk to school.

Can you help?

Building Work

The building work on the new year 1 classroom is currently on track. A huge thank you for being so flexible with the changes to the entrances and exits which have been made. The parking and travel situation also seems to be much better- again thank you for supporting us with this.

Our crazy hair raised a fabulous £218!

Thank you to everyone who joined in!

The gardening continues...

The new garden has burst into life and we have already had some veggie sales after school! All of the money made will go back into the garden, buying new seeds and materials.

The garden is already a huge part of All Saints with classes visiting and maintaining the garden every day. It is also a lovely space for children to go and enjoy the quiet. Our Little Acorns have been out recently with Mr Duncan. A lovely opportunity for them to meet other staff and help out in the garden!

The mural was recently completed and combined elements from children's designs. It looks amazing!

Year 6 trip to Go Ape!

On Wednesday, Year 6 visited Go Ape at Coombe Abbey with Mrs Allen, Mrs Smith and Mrs Palmer. We had an absolutely excellent time! The instructors at Go Ape purposely sought Mrs Palmer out to say how fabulous the children were. They encouraged each other, listened carefully and gave everything 100% even when they were nervous. The instructors said they have been their favourite group to work with in ages! Well done Year 6- we are so proud of you!

Year 6 Bikeability!

This week Year 6 have been taking part in Bikeability. They have done brilliantly and their manners, behaviour and perseverance has been positively commented on by the instructors. Well done Year 6- you have been a real credit to us!

Oak Class

Growing Together- A message from Claire

Hi, my name is Claire Sutcliffe and I am the Children and Families Ministry Enabler for the Methodist Church. I am looking forward to visiting your School in September and leading collective worship and getting to know you all.

I wanted to let you know about a new community project that the Methodist Church has started on an allotment in Sapcote. The project is for anyone in the community to come along and help to maintain the allotment and grow vegetables. There has been a lot in the media about how being outside is good for mental health, wellbeing and physical health. We are hoping to eventually run a few different groups on the allotment, look out for posts on social media and we will soon have our own Facebook page.

The allotment is on Donkey Lane, Sapcote. Our first gardening group will be held on 11am on Wednesday 16th June. All are welcome.

Have a lovely summer break.

ACTIVE FUN!

With government guidance opening up more and more we are really excited to be able to offer a before school WAKE and SHAKE for EYFS and KS1 children.

It runs every MONDAY morning, from 8.15 until schools starts. Children may bring a parent along to join in with the fun fitness based activities or attend alone. It will take place on the field and it will be zoned into class bubbles to enable social distancing.

It will be delivered by Mrs Dawkins, our resident PE specialist who has been working with our children and staff in school time for this academic year.

Ideally we would like your child to have suitable footwear on. Please make sure the children have a drinks bottle to refill and maybe an extra snack if they require.

There is no need to give permission or book on and is no weekly commitment required, we can work on an ad hoc basis.

Looking forward to seeing lots of you there!
