Our mission is to create a strong and successful competitive team that not only focuses on the disciplines of dance and embracing the artist within each dancer, but also to create a positive space where goals are achieved, friendships are formed and self confidence grows. Congratulations on taking the first steps towards advancing your dance training. As you prepare for audition day, here are some helpful tools and information to assist you as you gear up for auditions and the new dance season.

What does it take to make the AFDA company?

The AFDA company is looking for hard working, passionate and driven dancers. The company is looking for dancers who are willing to not only commit to the required training schedule, but who are willing to persevere and go the extra mile to achieve team and individual goals. We are looking for dancers who display and unwavering passion for dance, possess strong work ethic, dancers who are self motivated and disciplined. We are looking for dancers who love to learn, who are willing to apply their knowledge learned to their training, who display the ability to progress quickly and who are strong enough to persevere through any challenge that may present themselves throughout the season. Strong technique and performance skills are also expected of company dancers.

How should I prepare for the audition?

Dancers should arrive early to warm up prior to the audition. A room will be available for the dancers to prepare. Appearance should be clean and professional. Hair should be in a clean, slick bun. A black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes will be required for ballet audition. Boys to wear fitted black pants and tank with black or white ballet shoes. Remember to show your personality and smile!
