Pastor Stephen’s weekly e-note

Dear Flat Rock Community,

I was so glad to be back in worship with ya’ll this week. I missed one Sunday due to illness and my whole week just didn’t feel the same until today. We are making an effort through the Administrative Council to be more intentional about reaching out to those who we notice missing church. This takes everyone working together. As you come to church, and you notice someone missing, please take some time that week to reach out to them and just let them know we love them and missed them in worship. We will be working on a better way of doing this in the weeks to come. Remember, we want everyone to experience the love of Christ each week at Flat Rock. This is why we worship. There is never anything wrong with “lovingly” reminding folks of the importance of being at worship.

I was happy to have Peter MacBeth from the Methodist Home for Children come and witness about the work being done there. Of course we aren’t all called to be foster parents or work with children in the juvenile system or to have the skills to help some families get back on their feet. This takes a special calling from God. However, I am glad that, as a Methodist family, we can support people who do have that calling. Today in worship we collected over $350 for this cause. Thank you all very much!

I was touched in his message about how one of the goals for MHC is to “look for the future” of all the children with which they come in contact. They try to see a future for them that they can’t see for themselves. Isn’t this the same goal for all the church in regards to children. Yes! We want them to recognize the love of Christ in their lives. But we also want that relationship to have a secure future.

I firmly believe that all of us are called to minister to children. We may not all be able to do children’s messages or work in a Sunday school class or work in the nursery. But in some way ALL of us can help secure a future for all of God’s children. Let us continue faithfully in this work together.

UPDATES:

1) Please remember us on Facebook. One of the best tools we have to reach the people in Henderson about what we have going on at Flat Rock is through the internet. When you share a post from our Facebook page it has the possibility to reach hundreds if not thousands. Let the “share” button become a favorite of yours. If you aren’t already following the Facebook page it can be found by searching in the search bar: @flatrockhenderson If you aren’t on Facebook, I will be glad to help you find out how you can be part of this community.

2) We are coming up on the Lent season, which also means that Easter is not too far away. On March 1st at 7pm we will have our Ash Wednesday Service as we begin our lenten journey together. I hope you all can be there.

3) During the six Sundays of Lent we will be going through a new sermon series on forgiveness titled: Lightening the Load: A story of forgiveness. I hope you can make a point to be there during this entire series leading up to Easter.

Thanks for all you do,

In Christ,

Stephen Bazan
