The County of France is bordered by the North Atlantic Ocean in the West, the North Sea in the North, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland in the East, and by the Mediterranean Sea, Andorra, Monaco, and Spain in the South.

One of France's physical features, the Rhine River helps cheap water transport, and keeps the prices of raw materials (the basic materials that a product is made of) down.

Culture

The official language of France is French. The French language was first written in old french in 842. Only 88% of the people who live in France speak French as there dominate language.

Frances main religion in France is Roman Catholic. over three fourths of the people in France consider themselves Roman Catholic.

France's main food source is bread, cheese, and wine. One of France's interesting foods is Coq Au Vin, it is a French dish of chicken lightly fried in wine, lardons, mushrooms, and optionally garlic.

France, like many other countries, has a taste for Rugby, soccer, and Basketball. The French basketball team was runner up at the 1948 and 2000 summer Olympics, the Euro Basket in 1949 and 2011, the team won there first title ever in 2013 during the Euro Basket.

One of Frances favorite Childrens songs is Dame Tartine. In america it is called "There is a Lady Slice of Bread.

France has many dances, like the Waltz, Polka, Mazurka, Marche, Scottish, Rondeau and the Bourree.

That is the French dance of the Bourree.

The French women often wear neutral colors, like beige, white, black, and brown. The French men normally wear a sports coat, and a button down polo shirt.

The head of Frances government is François Hollande, he is part of the socialist party, and he has been president of the French Republic since he took office in 2012.

Some particular events that happen in France are the Le tour de France, the 2016 Le tour de France was the 103 edition of the tour. Bastille Day, also called la Fête, is the French national day, and is celebrated on July 14th, of each year.

The French Wars of Religion was fought between the Roman Catholics, and the Huguenots, for the Kingdom of France, during the mid- 16th century. There were some takings of a civil war happening in France over a fraction of the country washed with guns creating a toxic and explosive mixture. They said it may be on the edge of a civil war.

Joan of Arc is an important person of France's history, she was a commoner who lead her armies in the battle of Orleans. After she died she was declared as a Roman Catholic Saint.

Napoleon Bonaparte was a French military and political leader, he also lead several successful campaigns during the Revolutionary Wars.

Eva Green is a French actor, she started her career in theater, and made her film debut in 2003, in the film the dreamers.

Guillaume Canet is a actor from France. He is also a screenwriter and director. He started his career in theater and television, then he moved to film. He starred in many films like Love Me if you Dare, and The Beach.

Simone de Beauvoir was a French writer, political activist, an existentialist philosopher, and many other things, she wrote a handful of books, over 40.

Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt was born in France in 1960. He is a Belgian and French dramatist, novelist, fiction writer, and film director. His plays like "Oscar and the Lady in Pink", and "The Visitor" have been performed in over 50 countries all over the world.

Vanessa Paradis is a French singer-songwriter, actress, and a model. She became a star at the young age of 14, by the success of her song Joe le taxi. Since 1991 Vanessa Paradis has been a spokesmodel for Chanel.

Laure Pester, sometimes considered the French version of Brittany Spears, is a French singer who has sold over 8 million albums as of 2007. Her proffesional name is Lorie.

Coco Chanel was a French fashion designer from France. She was the founder and the namesake for the brand Chanel.
