People of North Korea

Leadership

North Korea is currently under the supreme leader ship of Kim Jong Un, who is the grandson of the first leader of the DPRK, Kim Il Sung, and the son of the second DPRK leader, Kim Jong Il.

Kim Il Sung was born to a poor Christian family just outside Pyongyang, soon after, the family moved to Manchuria in China. There, Kim become leading figure in anti-Japanese movement lead by the Chinese Communist Party. Slowly the Japanese noticed Kim, and slowly began to hunt him down. Relizing the danger, Kim fled to the Soviet Union and started a family with three sons, one of them been Kim Joung Il. Later Kim IlSung was appointed by the Soviets to go to North Korea and lead the uprising Korean communist part. This is where the Kim danysty started.

People

Unless you are permitted to live in the capital, living in North Korea is a real challenge with many dangers. One of North Korea's worst problems is it's food shortages, only the capital can enjoy full food supply, the areas outside the city suffer from food shortages, as the famine proves in the 1990's. When the Sovite Union collapsed in 1991, it cutted off all aids and concessions like cheap oil, reducing the North Korean imports dramatically. Because only 20 percent of North Korea's land is farmable, the state realied heavily on it's state trading companies, but when the Soviets collapsed, these all now proved useless. With the small food production an the end of aids, the North Korean state distribution system proved incapable of handling the disaster, but this is not the only factor to the famine. As floods raged on in the country in 1995, it destroyed most of the nation's farmable land, grain reserves and power supplies such as coal mines, the emergence grains where destroyed because they were stored underground. One of the most important thing destroyed in the flood was the nation's power system, however the problem was not caused by the shortage of fuel, but because that only two of North Korea's two dozen owner stations are powered by fuel, 70 percent of the nation's power comes from hydropower, plus the further drought in 1996 and 1997 created major shortages through out the country, heavily cutting back North Korea's train services, which was almost completely depended on electricity, making transporting food even more difficult. Ending in only one thing, famine.

The estimated death between 1995 and 1998 is around two million.

Current affairs

One of the most frightening fact of North Korea is it's nuclear programme, which began all the way back to 1.963.

The latest underground nuclear test was conducted in 9th of September, 2016. So far, North Korea have conducted five underground nuclear tests.

North Korea threatens to attack Australia with nuclear weapons but the possibility is quite slim.

Trump urges China to join to limit North Korea. As China supplies most, almost all of NK's fuel supplies.

Language

Ok, first of all, there are 120 DIFFERENT languages in the country! The offical language of the country is French and Sangho. Sangho is also the most spoken language in the country as it is been estimated that around 92 percent of CAR's population able to speak it.

Nearly all of CAR's native language belongs to Ubangain languages.

Environment

Grass thingy

Currently, the country's biggest environmental threats are desertification, water pollution, deforestation and poaching on wild life, especially elephants. The CAR reports that there had been a major loss in it's elephant populations. In 1979, it was reviewed that a third of the country's wild elephants had been killed just so that their tusk can be sold for ivory. Deforestation is also a huge problem as that the CAR was one of the most tree covered countries in Africa, but now, only 36 percent of the country's land remains covered by trees and none of them can be considered primary forests. Large portions of forests have been cutted down for valuable species of wood. Poaching and logging proposes a serious threat to the country's environment.

Fidel Castro in La Havana

The revolution lasted for five year five months and is days, the Fidel Castro rebellion successfully overthrew the Fulgencio Batista's goverment. The revolution began in July 1953 by Castro's 26th of July movement. It all began when Batista was first elected president of Cuba, then Batista was back by the communist party of Cuba. But when he was elected to be the president the second time, he become anti-communist thus gaining military support from the United States. He then gained control over the army, and cancelling the next Cuban president election, establishing a dictatorship. Castro, who was a lawyer in La Havana accused Batista of been corrupted, but was refused by the Cuban courts. Finally, Castro decided that the only solution would be to start an armed uprise, which he did and named 'The Movement' and began stockpiling weapons and recruiting men from the La Havana working class. The first battle against the goverment army happened on the 26th of July 1953 and it resulted in complete failure,Fidel and his brother captured. On the court day, Fidel spoke on for hours, using nationalism, and he was sentenced to fifteen years in jail. But in 1955, due to board pressure, Batista released all of the poltical prisoners including Fidel and his brother, they went to Mexico to meet with the other exiles to plan the next move. On the 25th of November 1956, Fidel and his men returned to Cuba. Then after a series of guerrilla warfare, the victory was the reble's on the first of January, 1959.

The Cuban missile crisis

The conflict started in July of 1962 when the soviet leader reached a secret agreement with Cuban leader, Fidel, to arm Cuba with nuclear missiles. But the CIA soon found out that parts of nuclear missiles were secretly transported to Cuba in Soviet merchant ships. President Kennedy issues a public warning but the work still went on. Listening to the advices from his advisers, Kennedy decided to set up a quarantine with the US navy and also wrote a letter to Soviet leader demanding the removal of offensive weapons from Cuba. Soviet leader responded with a refusal saying that the us blockade is an act of aggression and that the Soviet Union will continue on construction of nuclear weapons in Cuba. But later US medias reported that the Whitehouse had been apporched by Sovite agents informing that an agreement could be reached. Saying that the Soviet Union will remove all nuclear weapons if the US promise no to attack the island and to remove nuclear weapons from Turky and Italy. The agreement was reached and that was the closest humanity ever came to a full scale nuclear war.

Cuban culture

Classic America cars on the street of Cuba, because of the American blockade, pretty much all the cars are from the 1950's

Family culture

After the revolution, multiple laws were made and enforced in Cuba, urging woman to take up the same responsibilities as a man and join the work force. The Communist Part established gender equality laws giving woman more human rights and giving woman education.

Food

Each Cuban family is given a ration book which is suppose to guarantee people a range of products, but this promise is hard to keep because occasional shortages. When th Soviets collapsed, this ended all grain import into Cuba which created problems because these grain are used to feed livestocks, who produced eggs, milk, beef and chicken become scarce.

The traditional Cuban cuisine takes influence from a lot of different prospectives, most are Spanish, African and Caribbean cuisines, but there is also a remarkable amount of Chinese influence.
