America’s Cup Challenger Bella Mente Quantum Racing: Energizing American Sailors
Core members of the Bella Mente Quantum Racing Association will deliver a special keynote presentation on its overall strategy to assist in the rebuild of competitive sailing in the United States. In October, Bella Mente Racing and Quantum Racing made major news by announcing that their two highly successful American based racing programs were joining forces with the New York Yacht Club in a campaign for the 36th America’s Cup.
Hap Fauth (Principal Owner), Terry Hutchinson (Skipper/Tactician) and Phil Lotz (Commodore of the New York Yacht Club) will be on hand to discuss their many goals for this exciting campaign.
This newly formed team has high hopes of returning the Cup to U.S. shores in 2021. Also of high importance, Bella Mente Quantum Racing has goals that go beyond winning sailing’s most prestigious worldwide competition. This syndicate is focused on creating a sense of pride for this American-based campaign and building a deeper connection with the American sailing community.
With the change in boat design to an exciting, foiling monohull, windward-leeward racing courses, and a focused strategy to inspire sports fans around the world and unite the sailing world, the 36th America’s Cup represents a unique opportunity to re-engage the sport's grassroots and re-energize American sailing.
Bella Mente Quantum Racing is thrilled to have this special opportunity to present its strategy to grow the sport in the U.S. to the many leaders and influencers in the sailing industry who will be participating at Sailing Leadership Forum 2018.

Branding Expert Ron Tite Returns to the Forum
Back by popular demand from Sailing Leadership Forum 2016 is Ron Tite. Named one of the “Top 10 Creative Canadians” by Marketing Magazine, Tite has been an award-winning advertising writer and creative director for some of the world’s most respected brands, including Air France, Evian, Fidelity, Hershey, Johnson & Johnson, Kraft, Intel, Microsoft, Volvo and many others.
In Tite's presentation, "The Coup", he discusses how sport is up against anti-establishment forces. They’re attracting interest, dollars, participation, and they’re attracting attention; and whenever someone’s paying attention to them, they’re not paying attention to you. The anti-establishment forces are challenging what you do, how you do it, and how you define success by writing and following their own rules. So what do you do? We can learn to incorporate anti-establishment behaviors into what we do so we can compete, win back share, and even pull some of them over to our side.

Emily Penn: Take the NExt Step - Beyond Recycling and ReUSable Water Bottles
Ocean advocate and sailor Emily Penn has seen first-hand how much plastic ends up in our ocean. She has organized the largest ever community-led waste cleanup from a tiny Tongan island, trawled for micro plastics on a voyage through the Arctic Northwest Passage, rounded the planet on the record-breaking biofuelled boat Earthrace, and worked on a sailing cargo ship trading western supplies for coconuts.
Emily splits her time between running eXXpedition - a series of all female voyages to expose the ‘invisible’ microplastic and toxic pollution in our seas - and working on solving the ocean plastics issue with Parley for the Oceans and other corporate clients.
Prior to this, Emily co-founded Pangaea Explorations, to enable scientists, filmmakers and everyday people gain access and explore the most remote parts of our planet via a 72ft sailing expedition vessel.
In this presentation, Penn will share her insights and experiences of exploring seas of plastic in search of a healthy ocean. This interactive session will cover the local and global issues of marine plastic pollution, a spectrum of solutions to tackle the issue and next steps for you and your organizations.
