Knights vs. Samurai More different then you thought.

Here is a Japanese Samurai
And this is a European Knight!

Yes they are both warriors, yes they both have swords, but are they really the same?

Lets begin with the samurai!
  • Samurais had steal swords and wore layers of metal plates for armor.
  • Most samurais had scary masks, these masks scared away enemies.
  • They are also from Japan.
  • At some points samurais fought alone.
  • Some used a bow and arrow and had 2 swords.
  • Followed Bushido code.

Bushido Code-The unwritten Samurai code of conduct, known as Bushido, held that the true warrior must hold that loyalty, courage, veracity, compassion, and honor as important, above all else.

Next is the European Knight!
  • Used iron swords
  • Heavy iron armour
  • Lived in medieval Europe
  • Mostly fought in large numbers
  • Knights protected the kingdom
  • Used shields
  • Followed Chivalry code.

Chivalry code- code of conduct associated with the medieval institution of knighthood.

Though Samurais and Knight are different, people can argue that they are very similar...

  • Both followed a code
  • Sword, helmet, armour
  • Most rode horses
  • Both most likley had families

You notice there are more differences than similarities, because a Samurai and a Knight are more different than alike.
