Marco Polo and the Silk Road

The reopening of the Silk Road helped spark the Renaissance. It helped spark the Renaissance because when the Silk Road reopened travelers were able to go from Europe and Asia to get new ideas. In the text it states, “The Polos saw many amazing things in China. For example, the Chinese used paper money in addition to the coins that Europeans used” (Holt 300). This shows that people found new ideas about the world and goods. In conclusion, people discovered new goods with the reopening of the Silk Road.

Rediscovering the past (Greek and Roman)

Greek and Roman classical ideas help shape the development of the renaissance. They helped shape the Renaissance because when old Greek writings were found people became more and more interested in the way they lived. In the text it states, "Excited by their return, scholars then went looking for ancient texts in Latin" (Holt 305). This shows that people started to read all the ideas that Greeks and Romans had. In conclusion, Greek and Roman classical ideas helped the Renaissance develop.

The printing press had a big impact on literacy because when people could copy books faster people were able to read the books. People also started getting more books since they were able to get them faster with the printing press.

Renaissance Writing(William Shakespeare)

William Shakespeare's writing reflected the ideas of humanism. He reflected humanism by showing how important everyone is with his plays. In the text it states, “Shakespeare compares people to the actors in a play who should be watched with great interest” (Holt 317). This example explains that William Shakespeare believes that everyone is important. Many people were attracted to William Shakespeare's writing because people enjoyed the beauty of his Language. In the text it states, “Ever since, people have enjoyed the beauty of Shakespeare's Language…” (Holt 317). This shows that people really enjoyed his writing. In conclusion, many people loved his plays/writings because they were amazing and they reflected ideas on humanism.
