Henrietta Lacks Pre AP Biology - 5

HENRIETTA LACKS WAS BORN IN ROANOKE, VIRGINIA IN THE ROARING 1920'S.

WHILE HENRIETTA WAS IN HER EARLY THIRTIES SHE HAD NOTICED A MASS growing in her abdomen

The doctors had told her that she had cervical cancer and she needed to proceed in radiation therapy.

Without permission they had taken her cells from her cervix and began studying them.

They became known as HeLa cells. The first immortal cells in history
