Homecoming Season My Week in Sports - Week of October 9, 2017

It was an exciting week at Allatoona High School during the week of October 9th. It was Homecoming week. Daily themes, senior superlatives and a pep rally all leading up to the weekend events ... homecoming game against Sprayberry and the homecoming dance.

Although I only had the opportunity to photograph Freshman and Varsity Football, both Allatoona Volleyball and Softball teams had playoff action and have advanced to the next round.

Thursday, October 12th, Allatoona Freshman played Creekview Grizzlies. Earlier in the day, I was in Philadelphia as an Engagement Manager for exaqueo but knew I had to make it back to catch Freshman football. Most of their games have been away and I've only had the opportunity to make it to one game this season. Luckily, I made it back into town to catch a few quarters.

Freshman Football ended their regular season with a win over Creekview. Up next, Friday Night Lights.

The energy is always electric for a home Friday night game and Friday the 13th was no exception. To start the night off, Allatoona Track and Field 2017 GHSA State Champions were honored and received their State Championship rings.

I always arrive by 6 p.m. to a home game. This gives me an opportunity to eat dinner on the Allatoona Founder Deck and then get ready to photograph pre-game warmups and all the pre-game festivities which includes the Allatoona HotShotz Dance Team.

And who can't forget the Homecoming Court? One of my favorite moments of the night was the moment Carsyn Gambrell was announced Homecoming Queen. The reaction by both her and her father was priceless.

Due to the halftime Homecoming festivities, Allatoona's Band performed their full show after the game.

Now for some football. Allatoona Buccaneers versus Sprayberry Yellow Jackets was a Region 6-AAAAAA match-up.

Both JV and Varsity Cheerleaders cheered for the Buccaneers this night.

Senior RB Lilton Moore Jr (7) diving in for a touchdown

Sophomore QB Dante Marshall (9) looking downfield

Junior RB Daniel Parsons (3) heading for the end-zone

Final Score:

Sprayberry 15

Allatoona 37

This week Allatoona Volleyball travels to Alpharetta for playoffs while Allatoona Softball plays at home. Allatoona Football travels to Sequoyah for Friday Night Lights.

Until then...

Every game is everything.
