Ossett Town 2016 Memories

James Rogers, Chairman

Highlight of 2016: Difficult as so many highlights to be honest. I'll go for Burscough away on 20th February, Grant Black's first game in charge. We went into that game having not won a league game since 19th September - a long five months to wait for 3 points, and since that day things have been in the up.

Favourite game: Colwyn Bay on the 1st October without a doubt. One of the great away trips that will be forever remembered by those that were there. The great performance and convincing 2-0 win. The great and loud support from the fans. And of course the trip home on the Ossett Town party bus. Classic day.

Favourite goal: Whilst Jake Ellam's against Burscough on the 10th December was a top-drawer goal, my favourite goal in 2016 was Danny Frost's goal away at eventual league winners Warrington in March. Whilst we lost that game 2-1, to go 1-0 up against a top side with such an exquisite goal was the highlight for me.

Roger's favourite goal at Warrington is celebrated

Best signing: Alex Peterson

Most forgettable moment: The game versus Northwich Victoria on the 10th February. I was feeling massively under the weather that day (yes, the dreaded man-flu!) and then went to watch such a woeful performance in a 5-0 loss which ended Graham Nicholas' short time with us. A massive low for me and the club.

Hopes for 2017: To continue our current run and form and who knows what could happen

Ralph Wainwright, Match Day Secretary

Highlight of 2016: After beating Burscough and going joint top of the league when 12 months earlier we were almost bottom

Favourite game: Beating Scarborough 4-2 this season. We played them off the park

Tyrone Gay hit the net against Scarborough

Favourite goal: Jake Ellam at Burscough, what a peach – good enough to win any goal of the season competition

Best signing: Grant Black

Most Forgettable Moment: The Graham Nicholas months….

Hopes for 2017: Maintain the standard Grant has set and get a play-off spot come April

Dan Monfredi, Player

Highlight of 2016: getting a chance at Evo-Stik football and surviving a relegation battle

Favourite game: Harrogate railway at home when we won 2-1 to confirm almost certain survival and getting a chance to wear the captains armband

Captain Monfredi!

Favourite goal: Simon Rogers header in the Railway game

The Celebrations begin as Rogers heads home

Most forgettable moment: The terrible run of form prior to a change of management and suffering a serious injury

Hopes for 2017: Recover well from this injury and get back to full fitness and play football again

Marty Oldroyd, Backslapper

Highlight of 2016: Avoiding relegation in the manner we did and the fantastic start this season

Marty and his daughter enjoy a stroll round Ingfield

Favourite game: Bamber Bridge away last season, winning to avoid relegation. Players and supporters singing together at the end of the game. we are staying up, say we are staying up.

Favourite goal: Jake Ellam at Burscough.

Most forgettable moment: Graham Nicholas' reign

Things didn't go to plan with Nicholas in charge

Best signing: Ashley Jackson

Jackson has six goals from left back in 2016

Hopes for 2017: Simple. PROMOTION!!!

John Parkinson, Backslapper

Highlight of 2016: Beating Lancaster City at their place

Favourite game: Colwyn Bay away

Favourite goal: Frosty against Kendal Town

Hopes for 2017: To keep doing well
