Desert Willow Elementary Learning for life and loving to learn February 3, 2021

Please be mindful in and around our school parking lots and pick-up areas. There are children everywhere and we don't want anyone to get hurt.

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind when you are dropping off or picking up your students:

  1. Please do not text and drive. Not only is this against Arizona law, it is unsafe and can create dangerous conditions for other drivers or for pedestrians.
  2. Students may be dropped off in any of our front parking lots. Although most parents pull through the front line, there are some that are dropped off in the west parking lot as well. Please always assume that there may be students walking in or around cars.
  3. Follow the directions of staff members near crosswalks and wait to pull forward until pedestrians have finished crossing.
  4. Please pull all the way forward when directed to do so. This helps us keep the lines moving and reduces traffic on the surface streets.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all of our staff and students safe.

Roadrunners are Respectful, Responsible, & Kind

This month, our school wide theme is empathy. We’ll be reminding students to have empathy, identify their own and others’ feelings, notice and respect the same and different feelings, and show compassion. When students can identify, understand, and respond in a caring way to how someone else is feeling, it helps create a positive and accepting school climate.

You can extend this idea at home by talking about your own feelings and modeling empathy for others.
