Celebrate Good Times! Spring 2019 Commencement at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi

Congratulations!

The spring 2019 semester is coming to a close - you did it, Islanders! There will be several ceremonies and celebrations occurring in the days leading up to our Islander Commencement ceremonies. See below for more information regarding these events.

Islander Commencement

Join us as we celebrate the achievements of our newest graduates on Saturday, May 11, at the American Bank Center arena! The first ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. for graduates from the College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and Engineering, and University College. The second ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. for graduates from the College of BusinessCollege of Education & Human Development, and the College of Nursing & Health Sciences. Doors open one hour before each ceremony. Please see the link to our commencement website below for more information.

About the venue: The American Bank Center is located at 1901 N. Shoreline Blvd. The arena is open seating. Per venue policy, no purses, bags or containers larger than a small clutch bag, outside food or drink, balloons, vases, air horns, beach balls or tripods will be allowed in the arena. Photos and DVDs: Flash Photography will be photographing each graduate at the commencement ceremony. These photos, as well as recordings of the ceremony, will be available for purchase after the ceremony. Please see our Commencement website for more information.

Ceremonies & Related Events

A variety of ceremonies and celebrations are set to precede commencement exercises in the days leading up to the ceremony. See below for more information regarding these events.

The Educator Induction Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 1, at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. The ceremony is hosted by the College of Education and Human Development and will recognize students' achievement of becoming professional educators. The formal recognition includes students receiving medallions, which can be worn over the graduates' gowns at commencement. The College of Nursing and Health Sciences will hold the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society Induction Ceremony on Thursday, May 9, at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Students, family members, and community nurse leaders are all invited to celebrate! The event is free and open to the public. The Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m. in the University Center, Anchor Ballrooms A&B. This ceremony marks the transition of graduating ROTC students from cadets to enlisted officers.

The College of Science and Engineering Hooding and Cording Ceremony will take place on Friday, May 10, at 2 p.m. in Island Hall, Rm. 160. All students graduating with master’s degrees from the College of Science and Engineering are eligible to be hooded at the ceremony. In addition, undergraduate students can be recognized for their research alongside a faculty mentor and can receive undergraduate research cords. The College of Liberal Arts will celebrate the achievements of their newest group of graduates during the Master's Hooding ceremony on Friday, May 10, at 4 p.m. in the University Center, Room 142AB. For more information, contact Leigh Gibbon at leigh.gibbon@tamucc.edu, or call (361) 825-2457.
