JESUS hears us

Welcome to our interactive family worship service. Below are videos, music, and activities that you can do together. Follow the outline and click on the links. We have the opportunity to embrace sharing faith together in a new way. Parents: I know you have a lot on your plates these days. This can be a fun and easy way to connect and share with your children as we grow in faith together.

LET'S TALK

Today we'll learn about a time Jesus heard a man crying out for help. We'll discover that Jesus hears us, too!

Listening is an important skill. Let's see if you can guess what the sounds below are. Press the button and listen.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Being able to listen is important. You know what Jesus likes to listen to? Us!

Mark 10:46-52

Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and His disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.

“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see. Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

OUR LESSON

TALK ABOUT IT

We've been learning that Jesus hears us. But doesn't Jesus know everything already? Why does Jesus even need to hear us say what we want? In today's story Jesus asked the blind man "what do you want me to do for you?" Why do you think Jesus asked this question?

In John 15:15 Jesus said, " I have called you friends." What helps you grow closer to your friends?

We grow closer to our friends when we spend time with them and talk to them. Jesus wants us to grow closer to Him the way we grow closer to our friends. Jesus hears us, and wants to hear us. Talking with Him is part of having a relationship with Him.

What's something you wan to tell Jesus? Jesus knows everything. We don't talk to Jesus because there are things we need to tell Him that He doesn't know. We talk to Jesus because He loves to hear from us! We talk to Him because He cares! Jesus hears us, and in the Bible He even asked questions He knew the answer to just so people could grow closer to Him.

PRAY

Dear Lord, thank you for loving me and listening to me. Thank you for knowing me and caring about my thoughts. Shine your light in me, through me, over me. Help me to make a difference in this world, for your glory and purposes. I love you Lord. Amen!
