Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn. Since England owed his family lots of money, England payed him off by giving him land. Pennsylvania's capital was Philadelphia and the capital now is Harrisburg.
New York was founded by The Duke of York in 1664. King George wanted him to have more land, so he gave him the land. Before 1664, New York was ruled by the Dutch. New York's capital was New York City and now is Albany.
Delaware was started because William Penn wanted Pennsylvania to look like a rectangle, so he gave Delaware to Peter Minuit. New Castle was the capital of Delaware, and now the capital is Dover.
New Jersey was founded by breaking off of New York. The Duke of York thought New York was too big, so he gave some land to two of his best buddies, Sir George Carteret and Lord John Berkeley. New Jersey's capital was Bergen and now is Trenton
The Middle Colonies has lots of valleys and rivers. There is lots of iron in the ground, so mining was a big thing in the middle. The Middle had longer growing seasons and good soil, and grew lots of wheat, so they were called "The Breadbasket Colonies" The Middle has little forests, beaver trapping, and fishing. The Middle Colonies had a mild climate with warm summers and mild winters.
