Some call it the "Cheers" of Lodge- a place where everyone knows your name and you are always made to feel like family. Most simply refer to it as Rizer's. On the outskirts of a small town in the Lowcountry, smack dab in the middle of a working field sits a big green tin building. Hedges line the front, a picnic area is to the right, and cars and trucks with license tags from differing states are parked wherever they can find a spot. From Thursday-Saturday, 11am-2pm, that has become the norm. Rizer's serves an all you can eat buffet that will make your mouth water just by mentioning it. They average 22 different items to choose from-including their famous fresh sausage that is made in store using a secret recipe and years of practice. Typical items on the hot bar include mac and cheese, BBQ (with secret sauce), hash, rice, ribs, fried pork chops, and some of the best fried chicken you have ever eaten (sorry, grandma). Don't forget the hot from the oven cheesy biscuits. The vegetables are seasonal, grown by Rizer Farms, and they are everything you could ever imagine- always fresh and more often than not when referring to the beans and peas, you'll hear them say "Yep, shelled those this morning." You can taste the love and care that went into cultivating such a delicious crop. Dessert and drink are included in the price. FIVE different flavors of ice cream, homemade pound cake, and banana pudding. Did I mention it was ALL. YOU. CAN. EAT?! Bonus: On Fridays and Saturdays, they serve fried fish and shrimp. The price for so many choices and such good food is only $13 for adults, $6.50 for kids 10 and under. Rizer's also has a half buffet open on Wednesdays for a lower cost and items on the menu vary.
