Angels With Dirty Faces photographing the coNservation of saint Nicholas' chapel, KiNg's lynn

Saint Nicholas' Chapel, King's Lynn is one of the largest chapels in England. It has a magnificent 15th century roof with angelic carvings. I spent a rewarding day there recording the medieval timbers.
The roof dates to the C15th
Interspersed within each bay is a carved angel. No two are the same.

The details are quite magnificent

Playing the Lyre

Along the trusses and beneath the brattishing -smaller characters inhabit

Paint survives in areas towards the east end
The 'ghosts' of angels, show the residue of a previous generation

Saint Nicholas', like 340+ other churches, is cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust
