William Shakespeare Rachel Crandall

William Shakespeare is known to be a play write from the 16th and 17th century but there is more to know about him than just his plays.

William Shakespeare was most likely born on April 23, 1564 due to him being baptized on April 26, 1564. As there are no records of him being born but back then a child was baptized three days after their birth so we can only assume this was the date.
At the age of eighteen Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway who was said to be either twenty-five or twenty-six at the time. Anne was said to be the daughter of a local farmer.

Together they had three children. The first name Susanna who was born on May 26, 1583. Then they had a set of twin, one girl and one boy their name's Judith and Hamnet born on February 2, 1585.

Unfortunately Hamnet died at age eleven of unknown causes
After the death of Hamnet, there were no records from William for seven years. Some theorize he took his hand in acting and began writing plays while others believe he became a teacher for those seven years. Neither theory can be proved so they remain theories.
In 1594 Shakespeare joined the Lord Chamberlain's company of actors and later in 1599 he and a few other of Chamberlain's men came up with the idea of the "Globe theatre" and constructed it. It is said that with the income he received he bought his childhood home and moved his family into the house

With the exception of Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare mostly wrote about historical things in 1599 such as: Richard II, Henry VI, and Henry V. Shakespeare aso wrote several comedies: A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Merchant of Venice, and Much Ado About Nothing

a few plays are also presumed from 1599 but no proof are: Titus Andronius, Taming of the Shrew, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona.

After the 1600’s came the tragedies of Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, and Macbeth. Then came the tragicomedies called Cymbeline, The Winter’s tale, and The Tempest.

Most believe William Shakespeare died on his birthday but there are no records the only record that exists is that he was interred at Trinity Church on April 25, 1616. William left most of his possessions to his eldest daughter Susanna, who was rumored to be his favorite child. Shakespeare also appoint his wife his “second-best-bed” which made her the master/ mistress of the house as the “first-best-bed” was for guests. His work is taught now in schools over the world and still preformed as well. William Shakespeare's work has inspired many and continues to inspire people to this day.
