Forestry by:MIchelle

Introduction

Forestry is the science or practice of planting, managing and caring for the forest.

Forestry is a major source of wealth in Canada. Providing a lot of economic , social and environmental benefits. in 2013 Canada made 19.8 billion dollars joust from forestry. Which is also 1.29 of Canada's (GDP) Gross Domestic Production.

Canada has the largest the worlds largest forest production trade in the world. It also has the biggest balance is in world in 2013 which is 19.3 Canadian dollars.

There are 3 types of forestry industry

Solid wood manufacturing: This sector is primary and secondary areas . Which is soft lumber and structural panels(primary) and there is milkwork and engineered wood products. This sector provides about 44% of Canada's forest GDP production contribution to Canadian economy.

Pulp and paper manufacturing: companies in this area produce a lot of different products in this area. Some of these products include newspaper , tissues paper. This sector provides about 36% of Canada's forest GDP production contribution to Canadian economy.

Forestry and logging: The people working there are responsible for harvesting of timber . Also they felling and hauling it to the mill. This sector provides about 20% of Canada's forest GDP production contribution to Canadian economy.

Where it comes from

Some places that have a forestry industry is Quebec, British Columbia ,Ontario Newfoundland and Labrador .

Who does Canada export goods to?

Canada exports goods to china, japan , united states, Europe , South Korea , India. As you can see from the picture below Canada send most of its wood to the Untied states.

All about the workers

Forestry industry workers are not paid well. This job has had a lot of bankruptcies layoffs . The average pay for someone in the forestry industry is 1,054.58 in 2013. I think the amount that they are getting paid it to low considering how dangerous the job is. They are on their feet all day cutting down trees and bring them to factories.

Forestry is a dangerous job. When doing this job you have to cut down trees and work machinery and their could be accidents.

The bad parts

The biggest issue with the forestry industry is deforestation. There are many reasons why we cut down tress, some of them are we need them for paper and mining companies because they need the space so they can go under ground so the people can make roads and highways .Forestry is affecting Canada's people because we supply a lot of the wood to different countries and eventually we will run out of trees and we will die.

Like our school we try to limit the use of paper by putting everything online , I think we should try to do that for every school which would be better for the environment. We can also need to lessen the amount of farmland we use because we use way to much land and its the leading cost for deforestation.I think that trees are very important in our everyday live and that without them we would suffer so we need to do everything in our power to save them so we can save us

Conclusion

I think that forestry is a great industry it might have its bad sides but overall it a great industry it brings money to Canada and helps us in our daily lives.
