SOUND DESIGN & COMPOSITION
On their new single for Tropopause Records, musical collective Kalabash look at how man-made objects can provide us with new and strange views of the world. Sonically the track plays with texture and mood, drawing influence from UK techno and experimental club sounds, underpinned by touches of smooth RnB.
In Kalabash’s own words – “it’s our view of how a machine might interpret electronic music today” – which naturally extends to the visual accompaniment to the release. In the spirit of collaboration, a central component of Kalabash’s work, the collective have teamed up with film director Matt Hass for a short film that riffs off the theme of re-contextualising everyday objects and subverts the idea of non-human entities perceptions towards humanity. - Ransom Note.

ABOUT TROPOPAUSE RECORDS
Tropopause Records is committed to fostering creativity and innovation by bridging the gaps between different artistic mediums, genres, and cultures, creating a dynamic space for collaboration and pushing the boundaries of genre.
DELAY GROUNDS
‘Upcycling’ aims to highlight and tackle environmental and consumerist issues through the repurposing of recycled material into an artistic form. The tracks and sculptures alike are made from rubbish found in skips, yet manipulated into eye catching sculptures and organic sounds. The project not only embodies abstract hyper-realism within the material of the works to encourage a forward-thinking attitude, but also challenges the traditional artistic mediums into a means of communication.
Aptly named ‘Upcycling’ is back with a fresh set of remixes taking contributions from Manami, Suze, Surgeons Girl, Outsider and Yushh. Delay Grounds wanted to take a slightly different approach to the process by giving each producer a single sonic element from each of the original tracks - taken from his field recordings - and allowing each to craft entirely new songs with their respective elements, hence: ‘Upcycling Rebuilt’.
FARSIGHT
Farsight's latest double A-side single ‘Swallowed Whole’ // ‘Flash Flood’ will be dropping digitally on Tropopause Records on 19th November and takes a slight departure from what fans may have come to expect from the S.F. native. Nothing to fear, we’re still very much in dancefloor banger territory - delivering a torrent of big beats and playful rhythms, this one is not to be missed!
KIN TEAL
'Piqued' explores the connection between nature and humanity while juxtaposing natural textures with machine-made ones. The artworks attached to the music are a result of Balint’s interest in creative coding and emulating natural processes through code.
KALABASH
In Kalabash’s own words – “it’s our view of how a machine might interpret electronic music today” – which naturally extends to the visual accompaniment to the release. In the spirit of collaboration, a central component of Kalabash’s work, the collective have teamed up with film director Matt Hass for a short film that riffs off the theme of re-contextualising everyday objects and subverts the idea of non-human entities perceptions towards humanity. - Ransom Note
