MacBook Pro By Jenna wall

Description of the MacBook Pro

The MacBook Pro is one of Apples most recent released products. It’s fastest and most powerful MacBook ever, yet it is still remarkably thinner and lighter. It has the brightest, most colourful Mac notebook display ever. It also introduces the Touch Bar — a Multi-Touch–enabled strip of glass built into the keyboard for quick access to the tools you want, when you want them. It has 130% faster graphics, 67% brighter display and 17% thinner yet it only weighs 1.37kg.

The MacBook features a brand new element, the Touch Bar. The Touch Bar replaces the function keys located at the top of keyboard with something much more helpful. It changes automatically based on what you’re doing to show you relevant tools you already know how to use. Part of this touch bar includes the new ability to use Touch ID. This makes it easier and faster to log in and also to make secure online purchases.

Another extraordinary feature is the new and improved retina display. The new display in the MacBook Pro is the best in a Mac notebook. It features brighter LED backlighting and an increased contrast ratio, which delivers deeper blacks and brighter whites. This ensures ‘real life’ pictures with realistically vivid details essential for graphic design, colour grading and editing.

The speakers have been totally redesigned to provide up to 58% more volume, with two‑and‑a‑half times louder bass. The MacBook Pro is the perfect choice for mixing music, editing video's and even enjoying movie's on the go.

When looking at the design of the MacBook it comes in four colours and three models. The colours are silver, space grey, gold and rose gold. The new models are the 13 inch, 13 inch with touch ID and the 15 inch with touch ID. This gives the option for you to personalise your laptop to what you like and or desire.

Key Factors

The key factors that influenced my decision to buy the MacBook Pro were the new and improved features. These include the new touch bar, better screen quality, louder speakers and the options of different colours. The price was defiantly a consideration as it is quite expensive. Even though it is more pricey than other apple computer it is the best on the market at the moment and is expected to last me 5-6+ years. Given how long it will last, I feel that it is a great investment. Lastly the fact that Apple is a reliable and reputable brand I know that I will be getting the best quality and service out there.

"The new MacBook Pro is, in so many ways, a huge and quantum improvement over its predecessor. It's smaller and thinner and lighter and has a brighter screen and a better keyboard and a bigger trackpad and more powerful processor and you can unlock it with your fingerprint." - Campbell Simpson one of Apples reviewers

Place of Purchase

I have decided to buy my MacBook Pro from JBHIFI. This is because even though Apple have a RRP and suggest that retailers do not discount this price JB HI-FI generally will. I have also chosen to go here as JBHI-FI are easy to negotiate with and easy to get larger discounts on warranties and associated products. While at Apple the price is firm and they do not offer any of these deals.

Alternatives for Payment

DEBIT CARD - The main advantage of using a debit card for payment is that you are only using money that you have in your bank account. This means that you can only spend according to what you have and prevents you over spending. In addition you would be earning interest on your money in the bank account. Using the debit card is a safer way to carry your money verses carrying cash. Given the cost of the MacBook this would be a significant amount of cash to carry. The debit card is also convenient for using in stores and with ATM's. The main disadvantage of using this type of card is that you can only spend the money you have in the bank. Another aspect that must be considered is that withdrawing cash from a debit card is usually free if you use your banks ATM. Although when you use another banks ATM's it could cost around $2.

CREDIT CARD - The main advantage of using a credit card for payment is that you do not have to have your own the money in the bank because you are borrowing the banks money. This means that you could spend up to your credit limit which is determine by the bank according to your income levels. If you don't pay the minimum monthly amount you will be charged interest by the bank. The credit card is also convenient for using in stores and with ATM's. The most significant disadvantage of using a credit is the high interest rates the bank charges to borrow their money. If you withdraw cash from a credit card interest is charged from the day you withdraw the cash where as store payments can have up to 55 days of free interest.

By using all this information, I have chosen to pay for my laptop with debit card. This is because it is convenient and it makes sure I only can buy the product when I actually have the money. It is also easy to track my purchase as debit cards offer online banking. I have also chosen to do this because by using a debit card I am not borrowing the bank's money which could leave me with debt. One of the biggest reasons why I have chosen to pay with this type of card is because if I pay with cash my purchases won’t be covered by additional consumer protection. Consumer protection is where you get insurance for the new products you buy with your debit card. It provides coverage for the items against loss, theft, or accidental damage – usually for up to 6 months from the time of purchase.
