Bodensee-Königssee Radweg SALZBURG, AUSTRIA (DAY 8)

You will be poorer if you had put money on Indrani falling off her bike this trip. But richer for dropping her phone in the loo... Boo Who!

We headed down to Könginssee to officially complete our Bodensee to Könginssee Radweg trip and celebrated with a boat cruise on the very picturesque lake. Departing in low hanging clouds made for a dramatic and eerie atmosphere complete with a trumpet solo that echoed back each phrase at a time against the sheer rock faces that enclose the lake.

It was then time to head into Salzburg, along a most beautiful route following the aqua marine river as it wound its way through the glorious country side. Before long passports in hand we reached the boarder from Germany into Austria expecting a maned checkpoint, but it wasn’t to be. Instead just down the road we were met by our personal local escort, Kristian and Gabi who kicked off our celebratory proceedings with a visit to a distillery with an informative video, tastings, and a number of purchases!

After a quick late lunch stop at Gabi and Kristians place we checked into our Hotel, washed and packed our bikes into the van ready for their return and after freshening up went back to Gabi and Kristian’s place where we celebrated the end of our ride with a BBQ smorgasbord, excellent food, entertainment & frivolity.

We were spoilt rotten by our exceptionally welcoming hosts and was a fitting evening to officially finish off our cycling adventure.
