A Letter to Alumni:
Hello Delta Deuteron Alumni,
On behalf of the alumni board and the current Brothers of AEPi Maryland, I would like to express how enthusiastic we are to begin revitalizing a sense of communication and collaboration with alumni. There have simply been too many stagnant years where alumni have been isolated from the lives of current Brothers. More than anything else, forming the alumni board is about ensuring that alumni feel connected, comfortable and informed about what is happening in our chapter.
We hope that the newsletter not only updates you about our chapter’s logistics, but also creates a sense of familiarity. By introducing you to the wonderful individuals that comprise our chapter, you should always feel free to reach out and contact a Brother if something you read sparks a question or comment. Additionally, if there is something in particular you would like to see highlighted in the newsletter, we would be glad to accommodate. The newsletter is meant to promote a community that values interaction and participation.
Brother Sam Boderman (2022), co-chair of the alumni board, is working to craft more events that bring alumni and current Brothers together. Although we are lucky to have social media as an instrument for interaction, there is nothing quite like having a genuine, face-to-face conversation with another person. As Brothers of AEPi Maryland, it is critical that we not limit our relationships with those who we are closest in age to us. We all have things to learn and share from one another. By having events that include golf tournaments, barbecues and just the general schmooze, we are constructing a foundation of companionship that will bring our brotherhood to new heights.

A Letter From the Master:
Brothers,
My name is Andrew Kasner and I am the master of Delta Deuteron. I am a sophomore majoring in finance at the Smith School of Business and a member of the Justice and Legal Thought Scholars Program. Additionally, I am actively involved in the TAMID Group at Maryland where I manage an Israeli-focused stock portfolio and analyze financial markets.
I was first introduced to the AEPi brotherhood when my older brother, Matt Kasner (2019), was initiated in spring 2015. Over the years, I have recognized that the love and respect from every Brother in this fraternity is unparalleled. Now, as the President of AEPi, I am determined to lead this Brotherhood with the goals and visions that align directly with the fraternity’s core values of family, education, and charity. AEPi has given us a plethora of incredible experiences, including the closest Brotherhood, immense leadership opportunities and, undoubtedly, an infinite amount of fun memories.
Taking these skills and principles that AEPi has provided us, I believe that it’s now our turn to also give back to people in need and to the community of College Park. You can read more about our past and upcoming philanthropic work later in the newsletter.
It’s vital that we all stay connected. We want to create a platform for alumni, parents, friends and family to see what the chapter is up to, including recent events, accomplishments and news. Moreover, we have recently created a Facebook page and chapter website that contains recent updates, recruitment sign-up and a donation page.
We hope that this newsletter initiates a sense of excitement and connectedness within the Delta Deuteron family.

Meet The Chapter's New Executive Board
Master: Andrew Kasner
Andrew is a sophomore finance major in the Robert H. Smith School of Business and Justice and Legal Thought Scholars Program. He is from Baltimore, Maryland. Andrew enjoys learning about financial markets. On campus, Andrew is also involved in his TAMID group chapter, which is an organization that gives students hands-on experience in dealing with start-up companies in Israel. Andrew is looking forward to having an impact on the chapter during his term as master. One of his top priorities as master is improving our chapter’s alumni relations.
Lieutenant Master: Ben Rothstein
Ben is a sophomore government & politics and economics double major from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. His background is working in politics and political campaigns. In his spare time, Ben loves hanging out with his Brothers, playing video games and watching sports. Ben is looking forward to a successful term as lieutenant master. One of his goals as lieutenant master is to increase the number of philanthropic events in which our chapter participates.
Scribe: Jason Bryer
Jason is a sophomore marketing and business analytics & operations management double major in the Robert H. Smith School of Business with a passion for sports marketing. Jason is from Needham, Massachusetts. You can catch Jason at his internship working in the marketing department for the Maryland volleyball and wrestling teams. In his free time, Jason enjoys playing pick-up basketball with his friends at the AEPi house or watching whatever game is on TV. Jason is looking forward to a successful term as scribe.
Exchequer: Abe Browne
Abe is from Port Washington, New York. He is a sophomore operations management and business analytics major in the Robert H. Smith School of Business. This semester, he is completing a research citation through the First-Year Innovation Research Experience (FIRE) program. He is also in the University Honors program and was accepted into the Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST), which is an application-based honors program open only to business, computer science and engineering students. On campus, he is extremely involved in his TAMID Group chapter, serving as VP of membership and he will be participating on the TAMID Group Fellowship program this summer in Israel. Abe is looking forward to his term as Exchequer and he is humbled by the trust the chapter has placed in him by electing him to this position.
House Manager: Jared Ochacher
Jared is a sophomore broadcast journalism major with a minor in Spanish and real estate development. He is from Westchester, New York. He loves to play baseball and watch the Yankees. On campus, he is involved in campus television publications. Jared looks forward to working to keep the chapter house in peak physical condition.
Rush Chairman: Benny Strauss
Benny is from Westfield, New Jersey. He is a sophomore accounting major in the Robert H. Smith School of Business. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his friends and running. Benny looks forward to rushing a new pledge class of well-rounded potential new Brothers.
Pledge Master: Avi Stein
Avi grew up in South Florida where he attended the Rabbi Alexander S. Gross (RASG) Hebrew Academy, a local Jewish day school. He then went on a gap year program in Israel where he learned a lot about Jewish values, which he believes will help him in teaching the values of AEPi to all our new members. Avi is currently a sophomore in the University of Maryland Honors College, and he is in the Robert H. Smith School of Business with an undecided major. He looks forward to the responsibilities that come with his position.

Philanthropy
"Movember"
Hi everyone! My name is Max Alpert and I’m a senior communications major on a public relations track. Each year, during the month of November, the Brothers of Delta Deuteron grow out their mustaches to raise money for the Movember Foundation, which is a foundation that promotes men’s health research in areas of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health issues and more. This year, we raised $2,207, which is $900 more than last year! I would like to recognize the Brothers who embarked on this journey with me this past November: Brothers Austin Bierman (19), Justin Hoch (19), Chad Morris (20), Austin Bierman (19), Yair Pincever (20), Pat Riley (20), and Evan Roesen (21). Thank you to everyone who contributed! We hope this tradition will continue to flourish in the upcoming years with our AEPi Brothers.

Our Philanthropic Future
A Word From Our New Philanthropy Chair, Dylan Quinn
Dear Alumni,
My name is Dylan Quinn and I am one of the two philanthropy chairs at AEPi Maryland. I am reaching out to provide an overview of the current state of our chapter’s philanthropy as well as our goals for the upcoming semester.
Over the course of the fall 2019 semester, we chose to raise money for Movember, which is an organization that works to tackle prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide on a global scale. During the entire month of November, numerous Brothers grew out their mustaches while collecting donations to raise awareness for this cause. We plan to continue this tradition from year to year.
In addition to Movember, we have chosen two additional organizations to focus on this semester and beyond. The two organizations are Chai Lifeline and Gift of Life Marrow Registry. Chai Lifeline is an incredible organization that works to provide seriously ill children with a normal and happy childhood through family-centered programs, fun activities and supportive services. Both emotionally and financially, Chai Lifeline creates a sense of stability within these children’s life. We will also be raising funds for the innovative organization, Gift of Life Marrow Registry. Every three minutes, a person is diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. Gift of Life Marrow Registry seeks to combat this troubling statistic by creating a worldwide bone marrow and stem cell registry. Gift of Life has been able to facilitate 3,559 transplants by simply producing mouth swab kits that indicate whether an individual is a match with a cancer patient. Both of these organizations support salient causes and we look forward to working with them in the upcoming semester.
As for our plans for the future, co-chair Gordon Adelson and I will be changing the way our chapter’s philanthropy works. We plan on expanding the role philanthropy plays in the lives of our Brothers and those who we help. Housing the largest brotherhood on campus, AEPi Maryland has the ability to make an immense impact on the lives of others. Therefore, we will increase brotherhood involvement in events and keep conversations regarding our charitable work open to all Brothers. If you have a charity or cause that you are passionate about and would like us to explore, don’t hesitate to reach out. We are always thrilled about new organizations, especially if they have a profound impact on a fellow Brother’s life.
