Road back to Glory Boston Celtics 2016-17

The Boston Celtics return to glory has been well documented. Since the team traded away Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen, the team looked like it was going to be a mainstay at the bottom of the Eastern Conference while they acquired draft picks and tried to re-build from bottom up. But the Celtics, with General Manager Danny Ainge at the controls, picked up a few draft picks, made some shrewd trades, took a chance on a coach from a mid-major college and a few years later, the Celtics are back at the top of the Eastern Conference. They are viewed as the biggest threat to dethrone the current Eastern Conference champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers. As we get to playoff time, we will see how they respond as they have yet to get out of the 1st round of the playoffs the last 2 years.

Captain of the Ship

This group lead by All Star Isaiah Thomas(Above), have built themselves on toughness, togetherness and an "Us Against the World" mentality. This attitude has pushed themselves up the standings and ruffled some feathers along the way. Their bubbling rivalry with the Washington Wizards has been noted for some time and has been heated which begs the question of what will happen if they were to meet in the playoffs. But it all comes back to Thomas, who is the main offensive weapon the team has and the leader who has played himself into MVP conversations and will be looked at first when it comes down to how far the Celtics can go in this years playoffs.

Team First Mentality

Could this group re-create the championship glory with this mantra and follow the Detroit Pistons of 2004? Only time will tell...
