Vasco da Gama First European to sail to India going around Africa. Also found direct route from Europe to Asia.

Vasco da Gama's birthplace & nationality was Portugal, & Portuguese. Vasco was most famous for exploring India. His exploration benefited his country by providing spices, jewels & a successful trade agreement with India. The effect on the Indians he made was most of the Indians didn't agree with him bringing monks & trying to convert them to Christianity. Also how he would be very cruel to the Muslims that wouldn't follow. Which led to disagreement that was later settled. His first voyage was to India was in May of 1498 & his second voyage was in 1524. Also his voyage to India was 300 days long & was 24,000 miles.
