ECONOMIC: IS THE DISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH, INCOME AND PRODUCTION. SENTENCE: THEY SAY THE DAKOTA PIPELINE WILL GIVE ECONOMIC GROWTH THE ECONOMY BUT THERE HASN’T BEEN ANY PROOF AS OF YET THAT THIS CLAIM IS ACTUALLY BENEFICIAL, AS I SEE IT THEY ARE DECIMATING SACRED NATIVE AMERICAN LAND TO HAVE A CHEAPER WAY OF TRANSPORTING OIL.
ENVIRONMENTAL: THE EFFECTS OF ACTIONS ON THE NATURAL WORLD, SUCH AS POLLUTION. SENTENCE: THE DAKOTA PIPELINE COULD CAUSE DEVASTATING ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS TO THE STANDING ROCK TRIBE IF THERE WAS AN OIL SPILL. The Standing Rock Trend

How much money will the pipeline generate and how may jobs will it create?

The pipeline could potentially help the unemployed citizens of America as the company Energy Transfer states: the pipeline will bring over 156 million dollars in sales and income taxes to the state and local government, furthermore the pipeline will also generate 8,000-12,000 jobs.” The U.S has had a problem with poverty for years and this could potentially decrease unemployment rate as well as bring them above the poverty threshold. However there are some who contradict this saying that this is not the solution, David Archambault a Professor at the University of Iowa states: the pipeline is unlikely to create long-term jobs, after the construction the workers will most likely be unemployed.” Although jobs will help the economy it won’t last, all in all the pipeline construction jobs aren’t concrete but temporary.

What kind of kind of cultural Impacts have the Natives of Standing Rock suffered as a result of the pipeline?

The Dakota access pipeline is supposedly suppose to be “eco friendly” but at what cost? As the Boston university environmental student organization States “The Dakota Access Pipeline, meant to send crude oil from North Dakota to Illinois, will cross the Missouri River twice, and in the process bulldoze through the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s burial grounds and religious sites.” This pipeline is destroying sacred Native American sites and disrupting their ancestors resting place. They Natives of Standing Rock are bringing back old traditions to protest as The christian science monitor states: The entire DAPL protest began with young Native Americans reviving the traditional “crow hop” relay run to raise awareness.” As the protest prolongs the Standing Rock continue to hold their ground by peacefully protesting.

What kind of agricultural and environmental damage is there as a result of the pipeline being built?

The Dakota pipeline has caused multiple environmental issues as the Romper journalist cite states “The pipeline's proximity to the reservation could have serious, lasting impacts to both Native American culture and environment, as an oil spill could affect the reservation's water supply.” If the pipeline were to spill it would be detrimental to the natives as their primary water source would be contaminated, the spill would also affect the land for farmers in the area. The pipeline itself has not only affected the Standing Rock tribe but the local farmers as well as the The Des Moines Register states “Francis Goebel a local farmer in Iowa has a scar running across his soybean fields where the dark, fertile topsoil is being stacked on top of several feet of hard clay mixed with clay loam. Goebel fears his soil will be less suited for growing crops — and much less valuable.” If the construction of this pipeline is completed it will cause unchangeable damage to the surrounding land it goes through and the people that live on it.

How many pipelines spill in a year?

The answer is astonishing, there are more pipelines spilling every year, according to Dan Zukowski a Member of the Society of Environmental Journalists “Three major U.S. pipeline spills within the last month are just a small part of the 220 significant incidents reported in 2016 alone.” Every Time a pipeline spills it deals irreversible damage to the surrounding environment. The reason the spillage is so high also has a lot to do with the technology of of oil spill detection as EcoWatch states “Reuters report found that these technologies are "about as successful as a random member of the public" finding a leak. Of 466 incidents studied by Reuters, only 22 percent, or 105, were detected by advanced detection systems. The others were found in different ways, with the public finding 99 of the leaks.” All in all pipeline are dangerous and we shouldn’t be building anymore until we have an effective technology oil leak detector to prevent mass oil spills.
