May 2016 newsletter

IWI is growing day by day. As we have just successfully ending a fundraising campaign to launch the pilot phase of the Safe Birthing Programme, we are excited about our future and look forward to the impact IWI will be able to make in the lives of women globally. We ask all of our readers to contact us with thoughts, comments, suggestions or contributions. Thank you all for your support and encouragement!

OUR VISION....

Our vision is that one day, women all over the world will be the protagonists of their own lives. Through awareness and developmental changes, I believe this is possible.

Save A Life This Mother's Day Campaign A Success!

Thanks to the generous donations of IWI supporters, our campaign raised enough money to completely fund the pilot distribution of birthing kits for the Safe Birthing Programme. Over the coming months we will provide 1,800 kits to three health centres in the Amolatar District of Uganda.

But the hard work is still not over. Your continued support of the Safe Birthing Programme is still needed. To continue to donate please click the link below.

FACT: In Uganda a woman dies from childbirth related complications every 90 seconds.

IWI is proud to introduce the newest members of IWI

With great honour I would like to introduce you to Dr. Cecelia Walsh-Russo, our new Deputy Director, and Kamini Paul, our new Director of Strategy.

Both directors are valued for their excellent managerial skills, leadership approach, decision making qualities and directive nature. In addition to dedication and sincerity, both directors have a wealth of knowledge within the women’s human rights movement, programme development and advocacy.

Our Fundraising team has grown as well. Under the direction of IWI's Director of Fundraising Laurel Jansury, we have been able to begin working on our common goals of reaching more individuals to educate them about the rights of women globally. We are pleased to have the assistance of Tiffany Calhoun and Vanessa Depeyre, our new Fundraising Researchers.

In addition, our Safe Birthing Programme has acquired a new Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator, Joseph Esule. With the programme underway, we are thankful to have Joseph onboard.

IWI is not a stranger to producing articles centred around issues unique to women. However, our team of staff writers has grown, and will continue to grow substantially over the next few months. Our news content is a politically liberal online news aggregator that focus on women’s human rights on a global scale. We deliver captivating content to the world which informs, inspire and entertains through reaching deeper, broader and closer with our content and interactions, rebalancing media by respecting the diversity and humanity of the world, and by giving a voice to the voiceless.

A big welcome to our newest writers:

  • Angelina Kaneva
  • Claire Davaine
  • Ciaran O'Reilly
  • Jason Rizzo
  • Maleeha Mukhta

If you are interested in becoming a member of our news team please forward your CV, cover letter and a writing sample to info@internationalwomensinitiative.org.

Our Fundraising team has also brought on staff to coordinate events which will begin soon. IWI has a few surprises in store for our supporters. Helping us make this a reality is our new Event Planner, Lily Robertson. Assisted by new hires Alissia Passarini, Juliet Osborne and Miranda Love, we look forward to sharing with you memorable experiences.

“Equality has no gender.”
