Mandela College Blog ApRil 2017

A word from Mrs Wenham

It is with great pleasure that I continue to act as Head of this amazing college. Our pupils never cease to amaze me in their attitude to learning, resilience and respect for one another. Respect is a massive thing to me and all Mandela pupils are aware of this. I expect every single Mandellian to have respect and thought for everybody around them so that our school is a happy place to be. We are a very caring college and I am immensely proud of this.

Sporting Successes

We are probably known as the least sporty College which sometimes causes us some amusement, but we do have some outstanding athletes amongst us. Kate, Gracie, Grace and Hope have recently won netball and cricket tournaments. This is great news and we are proud of them. The Year 7 teams came third and fourth in the college sports competitions for rugby and hockey. Mrs Wenham was proud and pleased with the pupils who volunteered even though they found it hard. This shows resilience and enthusiasm which are lovely characteristics to have. Well done!

World Book Day

You can see above the fantastic efforts of 7M2 on World Book Day. There was a competition amongst all the year 7 progress groups to design a front door cover for their classroom. The pupils of 7M2 went to great efforts to make theirs look amazing and it was judged to be the best. They won first prize! Well done 7M2.

Amazing Art Work

Sam in Year 9 is an amazing artist and we didn't know about his talents until recently. Above is an example of recent work he has done. We this it is brilliant. You are very talented Sam!

Perfect Punctuality

7M1 and 7M2 won the punctuality competition last half term with the best time keeping in the school. Both progress groups had 0 minutes late to school which is great as it is important to be her on time and ready to learn. Mrs Wenham said she was very proud of them but didn't expect anything less! They won pizza!

Good Luck to Year 11

Mrs Wenham, Miss Breckon and Mrs Houghton would like to wish Year 11 good luck for their forthcoming exams and their futures. They have been working hard to prepare for their important GCSE exams and we hope they do well. We hope they are very happy in the next stage of their lives too.

A reminder that Mrs Wenham and Mrs Roach are here to help
