Shakespeares Life The things he did

Thesis: Shakespeare made an impact on the world through his early life, career, and later life.

Early Life:

Quote 1: "In 1582 Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, eight years his senior and pregnant at the time of the marriage. They had three children: Susanna, born in 1583, and twins, Hamnet and Judith, born in 1585" ("William" 2)

Commentary: The is one thing about Shakespeare that wasn't really talked about a lot but I think its interesting that he had kids. There was one and then he had twins which is just a cool fact.

Quote 2: "After these come The Comedy of Errors,Titus Andronicus (almost a third of which may have been written by George Peele), The Taming of the Shrew,The Two Gentlemen of Verona,Love's Labour's Lost, and Romeo and Juliet. Some of the comedies of this early period are classical imitations with a strong element of farce. The two tragedies, Titus Andronicus and Romeo and Juliet, were both popular in Shakespeare's own lifetime" ("William" 5).

Commentary: This quote is talking about a bunch of the different plays Shakespeare was involved with. Many of them are very popular still today.

Quote 3: "His plays have been a vital part of the theater in the Western world since they were written about 400 years ago. Through the years, most serious actors and actresses have considered the major roles of Shakespeare to be the supreme test of their art" (Lander 2).

Commentary: Shakespeares plays may be older but they were very popular and still are. Many actors do his plays to test how good their acting skill is. It can be a bit of a challenge but in the end they have a lot of fun.

Career:

Quote 4: "Shakespeare, William (1564-1616), was an English playwright, poet, and actor. Many people regard him as the world’s greatest dramatist and the finest poet England has ever produced" (Lander 1).

Commentary: This quote is a little bit of what Shakespeare was. He did a lot of very impressive things in his day and they cary on to today which makes it have a impact.

Quote 5: "Visitors to the lovely Warwickshire market town where England's most famous literary export was born in 1564 are always in abundance, no more so than for the annual Shakespeare's Birthday Celebrations" (Ellis 3).

Commentary: Shakespeare is so important to where he is from that there is a day (his birthday) where they celebrate him. His town is very proud of what he became.

Quote 6: "Speechifying on the podium followed and "Blessings be upon my native town / Now a place of worldwide renown." Will handed over his white quill ("which in my writings served me well") to the head boy of his former school, signaling fanfares from the Band of the West Midlands Fire Service, the unfurling of 72 national and sundry other flags along the streets, a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" and three cheers led by bellowing town criers." (Ellis 11).

Commentary: This is something that shakespeare did on that day they celbrated him and his work. There were many things that the town did.

Quote 7: "Royal Shakespeare Company is an English theater organization dedicated to presenting the plays of William Shakespeare and other playwrights of his time, modern classical dramas, and new works" (none 1).

Commentary: There is a company named after him that perform many of the things that Shakespeare wrote. Including playwrights of his time, modern, classical, dramas, and new works.

Later life:

Quote 8: "The RSC was established in its present form in 1961, but its roots go back to 1879" (none 2).

Commentary: The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) was established not that long ago but the main part goes back to 1879.

Quote 9:"The summer of 1596 was a sad one for William Shakespeare. Following the success of Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream the previous year, his only son, Hamnet, died at the age of 11" (Ravilious 1).

Commentary: This is talking about how Shakespeare had many success with his plays but in between all of that craziness he lost a child. This son, Hamnet, was only 11.

Quote 10: "Royal Shakespeare Company is an English theater organization dedicated to presenting the plays of William Shakespeare and other playwrights of his time, modern classical dramas, and new works" (Ravilious 1).

Commentary: There is a company named after him that perform many of the things that Shakespeare wrote. Including playwrights of his time, modern, classical, dramas, and new works.
