Ralph Chandler Middle School Library December Report - 2017

Mission and Goals

At Ralph Chandler Middle School Library, our goal is to ensure that learners leave here as competent, critical, and ethical users and producers of ideas and information. It is our mission to prepare lifelong learners; information literate young people able to determine their information needs, recognize and utilize relevant and credible resources, while evolving into impassioned readers. We seek to underscore the profile of a South Carolina graduate by encouraging students to be creative, innovative, collaborative, self-directed critical thinkers, who become adept at problem solving and who attain a global perspective.

Circulation statistics

Drop from November, but December's Winter Break provided fewer opportunities for checkouts.
RCMS is consistently in the top ten middle schools for OverDrive checkouts.

individual and class visits

Woefully under reported...We have minimum of 50 students a day who come before school. (That would be a minimum of 750 for the first half of December. They use a pass system with no requirement to sign in on the computer system. Classes do not have to sign in.

miscellaneous

LibGuides have a new look! We have migrated to a new server, and we are merging under the district umbrella. We were the first school in the district to use LibGuides, and now there are several other schools who have purchased them and will be using them with students/faculty/staff. By moving under the district umbrella, we were able to negotiate a better price as part of a group.
