Time to break out the party poppers, TLS has turned 8 years old!

When looking back over the past eight years, it's amazing to think how much has changed in the TM industry. It makes us immensely proud to think that we have grown and evolved through all of these changes and will continue to do so. This we feel highlights our strong foundations and ability to react to changes in the industry.

It has been our absolute pleasure to work with some fantastic Traffic Managment companies throughout the last eight years, who continue to strive in the provision of temporary traffic management throughout the UK.

We would like to thank all of our staff, partners and clients, both past and present, for their hard work and dedication in making this last eight years such a success.

Pop open the Champagne, here's to another 8! 👏

The implementation of the Highways England Passport Scheme has begun. It aims to set a comprehensive safety standard for all workers. This involves the Common Induction Training being completed by more than 50,000 employees in the Highways England supply chain. The scheme will provide each employee with a smart card which will make work ‘Safer, Smarter and Simpler’. The deadline for completion of the Highways England Common Induction Training is April 2019.

Who is the Highways England Common Induction Training for? And how long is it?

The Common Induction Training is for anyone who accesses Highways England sites. This includes any worker, supervisor, manager, delivery driver, office staff or visitor. A record of the successful completion of the training will be stored on your smart card. The site will scan your smart card using the latest technology allowing them to verify your credentials accurately and quickly. The course is a 1 day programme.

What are the benefits of the Highways England Common Induction Training and the Smart Card?

All Highways England sites will require all entrants to their sites to have completed The Common Induction Training and hold the smart card .

Furthermore, the card will improve various factors such as; entry times to sites, verifying credentials, management of risks concerning employee fatigue.

Highways England state that one of the biggest benefits for employees is the storing of information and records on the card.

This means that a card can last up to five years, which is currently not the case.

Clearly, the smart card will provide a one card system which will make things a lot easier and more efficient.

Over the past couple of weeks we have seen a huge improvement in the submitting of hours via Fastlane. This has made payroll much easier and quicker for both partners & Tabbie / Fiona.

I Chose To Look The Other Way, I could have saved a life that day. But I chose to look the other way. It wasn’t that I didn’t care; I had the time, and I was there. But I didn’t want to seem a fool, or argue over a safety rule. I knew he’d done the job before; If I spoke up he might get sore. The chances didn’t seem that bad; I’d done the same, he knew I had. So I shook my head and walked by; He knew the risks as well as I. He took the chance, I closed an eye; And with that act, I let him die. I could have saved a life that day, But I chose to look the other way. Now every time I see his wife, I know I should have saved his life. That guilt is something I must bear; But isn’t’ something you need to share. If you see a risk that others take That puts their health or life at stake, The question asked or thing you say; Could help them live another day. If you see a risk and walk away, then hope you never have to say, “I could have saved a life that day, but I chose to look the other way.”
