April 27, 2017. A cool, cloudy Thursday morning.
We are set for a journey!
All grey and bald.
Hey there, little fella.
Cold, dry land.
Shrubs show little to no leaves. Plants are starting to grow back. Lichens are present.
dark, Grey landscape.
I obtained an underground soil sample. I measured the soil's temperature and found that it was 2.6 degrees Celsius.
May 2, 2017. A rather nicer Tuesday morning.
Nutana garden is almost ready for planting!
Lichens are abundant in our trees at school grounds.
We did some soil testing on school ground soil. Soil temperature was 6 degrees Celsius, and air temperature was about 9 degrees.
The school garden's soil yield the same soil temperature readings.
Friday, May 5, 2017 A nice sunny day for a walk beside the river.
Bright blue sky and a calm South Saskatchewan River.
Trees are starting to grow leaves
Here we can see a little bit of green starting to show.
Thursday, June 1, 2017. A good day for some soil testing.
The school ground's soil temperature has gone up to about 18 degrees Celsius. It is dry and has a neutral pH.
We tested for the light as well as air temperature.
The garden soil yield the same results for temperature, pH and moisture.
Wednesday, June 21, 2017. A look back at our first trip. Has anything changed?
All green and forest-like.
Different kinds of plants grew that were not present in our first visit.
Where did my soil testing spot go? Grasses and plants grew all over it.
The soil has warmed up. Moisture and pH levels remain the same.

So much has changed over the course of two months.
