EasyBib in Google Docs Adding the EasyBib Add-On to Google Docs

Use the EasyBib Google Docs add-on for help creating MLA citations within Google Docs. Here's how to add it:

1. Click on Add-ons > Get add-ons...

2. Search for EasyBib

3. Click on the +Free button

4. Click on Accept

With EasyBib now added to Google Docs, access it whenever you have a Google Doc open.

5. Click on Add-ons > Easy Bibliography Creator > Manage Bibliography

6. Use the Cite a Source window that opens on the right side of your Doc to create citations and build your bibliography / works cited

HINTS

  • "Book" is the default source type. If you are creating a website citation, make sure to select the "Website" button before pasting a URL to cite.
  • The EasyBib website function does NOT work when citing online library database resources such as EBSCOhost articles. When citing database resources, use the database's build-in citation generator.
  • This tool is a starting point for creating MLA citations, but it is NOT perfect. Make sure to compare what it generates with proper format, as detailed in the OWL MLA guide.
