Is Muse still holding up? XDC Analytics team

Last updated: 3/24/2017

Background

In the years past, the Muse has been an amazing desktop app, famous amongst the designers who wants to publish a website. But, an under performer with return usage amongst the new customers. So, we are here to answer the big question. Is it still worth it?

We think looking at just the return usage for New Customers would not be the right measure for this. We need to look at people who actually use the product, people who Publish!!

Till date, a whopping 1.8 Million websites have been published using Muse!!
Total sites published since Sept-2015 to date
Publish feature in the product has been used more than 17 Million times and an edit 62 Million times..
Median of “No of publishes done by a user” is 17 in 2015 and 21 in 2016.

We have the following hypothesis..

  • Customers who publish would have a better return usage when compared to those who don't.
  • Customers would have to return to the app whenever they need to edit their site.

To prove the hypothesis we did an analysis for paid customers in year 2015 and 2016

Customers who did a publish in 2015, 66% of them are using Muse in 2016 and 33% within 3 months of 2017. Similarly, Customers who did a publish in 2016, 45% are using muse in 2017.

Approx. 50% of the monthly active users do a publish.

No of publishes has increased in the same ratio as MAU

Year 2016, show a similar trend
