What is happiness to me?

My FAMILY

I grew up with a troubled childhood and strained relationships with both parents due to abuse. I could not wait to start my own family and change my experience with "Family." Even though there was and is struggle, there also is joy in the mix. Through time and healing, reconciliation happened and life became richer.

Established: February 13, 1988-I was 19, and he was 26.

after 29 years later....we are still happy celebrating our family.

Our amazing three adult children with their spouses.

And our 4 grandchildren....more will be coming, I am sure!

What will make me think I am a successful person?

By being intentional in leaving a legacy of unconditional love, servanthood, and pointing my children/grandchildren to a relationship with Jesus. I plan on accomplishing this goal by modeling my personal relationship with HIM to them. And by sharing the adventure of living out my faith. It doesn't have to be a boring, rule based lifestyle. Instead, it is happy, fulfilling, relational, hopeful, and creates deep character. When I am vulnerable in sharing my weaknesses, my ceiling becomes their floor. My hope is they live their lives better by each generation.

What is the role of suffering in my life? Philippians 4:12-13: “I know what it is to be in need and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through HIM that gives me strength.”

My suffering was and is nothing like Christ suffering.

My personal suffering throughout life has given me depth, faith, courage, and strength when I thought I had none. I found my voice, my faith, and my hope in the darkest of times even when circumstances seemed to look hopeless. I always eventually, remembered to look up and see Jesus in my story. When I was 5, I learned the song "Jesus Loves Me" and every time i sang it I would feel hugged. He suffered with me.

What does it mean to say that life is meaningful and how is this achieved?

A meaningful life is achieved by recognizing there are beautiful broken people who want to experience love, justice, and relationship. I believe my life has purpose to encounter their life and exchange with them love, justice, and relationship. We are all here together for a reason and a purpose. Let's discover it together.

I also believe we are created FOR relationship. It is a basic need which brings personal health and healing when facilitated and modeled properly.

Is there something more to life than success, material riches, and/or achieving your dreams?

Yes, I believe we each have a purpose to contribute to one another. I also believe in life after death. How we live this life effects the next. We are to enjoy the diversity all around us, along with the beauty God has created to compliment the relationship He desires to have with each one of us.
