J.R. Briggs SUMMER Newsletter August 2nd, 2019

Keep Reading This Summer!

Parents and staff have been busy sending in pictures of reading taking place this summer. From the pool to the playroom, students have been captured everywhere. The staff has also chimed in from the beach, library, and from the campground too. Please continue to send (nnorth@awrsd.org) pictures that can be posted on our social media accounts, because we love to share them.

Class Lists Are Up In The JRB Lobby!

Sneak Peek Is Soon!

Sneak Peek is a chance for students and parents/guardians to see any new changes that have taken place here at JRB. Teachers are not required to attend, but most rooms are at least set-up for the new school year. You will have a chance to speak to some other community member and the PTA will be presented as well.

Kindergarten News

First of all, if you have not registered your student for kindergarten this year, please do that as soon as possible. We have posted tentative class lists, but with the wide variety of K registrations at the last minute, we sometimes have to adjust those a slight bit.

If you are registered, you will be receiving a letter shortly the will remind you of your screening appointment during the first week of school. If you do not get this letter by the end of next week (August 9th), please reach out to the main office.

We are very excited to see you and your child very soon! Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Chorus/Band News

Some changes are taking place for our chorus program this coming year. Mrs. Lordan will be moving rehearsal times to before school, and we already have some plans for our concerts dates. Please view the attached letter/sign-up sheet if you have a student in grades 3, 4, and 5 that is interested in joining the chorus for the 2019-2020 school year.

In addition to the new chorus time, our band has many changes that will be taking place. First of all, we will be under the direction of Mr. Joe Lordan. Mr. Lordan has been the Overlook Music/Band Teacher for a number of years now. He will continue in that role, but also add JRB to his band duties.

We will be holding band rehearsals after school this year. Students will meet at the stage after school and participate until 4:00PM. More information on this process will come out once we start school.
